Surely it’s his confidence, why have you decided it is overconfidence?
@JohnEButton
@JohnEButton 6 ай бұрын
@r8m8s8 I've studied his career. He is/was one of my favorite fighters because of his willingness to engage opponents in virtually any venue and at any weight. However, he was brutally knocked out several times towards the end of his career - not because they were better - but because he over-extended himself in the fight. Why did he overextend himself? Because he had so much experience and his skill so good that he became overconfident in his abilities over his opponents.

His only goal leaving Africa was to become a professional boxer, which he trained for back in Cameroon, but never competed against decent opponents, let alone at a professional level. Upon landing in France, the first gym he stepped in, the coaches told him he would be a great mma fighter, and that was the first time he had ever heard about that sport. Since then he was exclusively doing mma even though his dream was still being a boxing world champion... until he walked from ufc and finally got the opportunity. The Fury fight was actually his first official boxing match.

@@sukhdevr3489 that guy has no idea what he's talking about. Outwrestled is referring to the results. They weren't saying he's a better wrestler from a technical stand point. You can be outwrestled by someone just because of physical advantages, and the 2nd time they fought he didn't exhaust himself throwing haymakers so he wasn't as easy to take down. In the first match he was easily getting back to his feet and stuffed at least 1 TD until fatigue set in, and that was based on strength. He definitely wasn't doing it with technique so yes Francis was stronger in the 1st fight also. He was also a lot bigger than Stipe in that fight. After rehydrating he was at least 20 pounds heavier.

@concerro7202
@concerro7202 2 ай бұрын
He got punched by Stipe several times in the rematch, and took them well, and Stipe is known as a powerful puncher. Tyson Fury also caught him with decent shots, and he didn't back down. Anthony Joshua had a significant speed advantage, and the punches you don't see coming are the ones that knock you out. On top of that he hits really hard. It's not like Francis goes down when just any random fighter hits him.
