I'm 27 and I love this guy. Had the pleasure of meeting him before he died and he was an absolute gent. I was devastated when he passed away as was everyone across the UK, Ireland and the world who knew and loved Doddy. Not only the best comedian in the business, but he was a fantastic singer.

It may sound naive to today's modern, cynical audiences but you can bet Ken Dodd sang it with a loving heart and full sincerity. God bless him - he left the world a wonderful legacy of joy, laughter and yes - HAPPINESS! XXX

So very very sad to know that this genius of an entertainer worthy of the Star status has passed, I’ve been a devoted fan of Doddy since I was knee high and what a fantastic time I’ve had listening to so many of he’s wonderful songs and shows throughout those years, thank you Sir Kenneth Dodd our very own Mr Happiness.

I love this song...we discovered it while we were living in India & taught it to our children & their 15 strong muti-racial children's singing group & they even got to sing it to the late Mrs Indira Ghandi & the then President of India. That song has gone everywhere. Thankyou Sir Ken. RIP & God Bless You.

I remember this song's release very clearly... I could only have been five or six at the time. Hold My Hand had a catchy quality which caused me to always remember it. Looking back, I now realize that Ken Dodd had a greater vocal talent than all of the Beatles and Cilla Black multiplied together: he could have held his own alongside Sinatra, Como and Mathis!
