OMG...Rod Hull with Doddy....bloody hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 and I also remember watching Grotbags doing the cauldron game and getting bad tempered when they took the prizes instead of getting something worthless and pathetic...great memories for me!!!

I used to watch this as a kid - and I used to have a crush on Grotbags (as in PROPER fancy!) It was a sad day when Carol Lee Scott died last year (July 2017). She was a sexy lady in many ways. I'm watching this as part of a long term Ken Dodd fan (who sadly passed away this month: March 2018). I'm on a video binge of Doddy's work. Add to this, the fact that the great Rod Hull passed before I was 20 years old makes for a sad video. 3 GREAT entertainers in one video clip gone, and never to be replaced. But, thank you KZbin, where I can re-live happier times, and thank you ''VideotapeFTW'' for posting this comedy gem!

@WhosAGoodDogue4 жыл бұрын
@@emilian7052 - Yup, bear in mind she was only in her late 30's then, but to me, she still held an attraction into her later years. At the same time, I was drawn to to Diana Dors and Hattie Jacques. I guess that's where my love for the larger (full bodied) woman came from. All the larger ladies in todays TV and movie land seem to have gone diet mad. I refer to Dawn French (she's a skinny thing today), along with Melissa McCarthy, Rebel Wilson and Adele. All were lovely and round/full bodied. That said, McCarthy still has a nice shape and hasn't gone for the Prisoner of War look like the rest of them. I mean, when I first saw the 'new' Adele in the papers, I thought she looked like a Heroin addict. I didn't believe it was her, until she spoke. I guess it's each to our own, and whatever floats our boats. We can't all like the same kind of people, as that'd be a boring world! Many thanks for your reply, and my apologies for _my_ rather long one. All the best! Dogue.

It happened more than once - sometimes on live television. Kids couldn't afford to be a precious little snowflake back in the 80s, especially when Grotbags was around!

I gather that Colin the Bat is named after director Colin Clews, and when Grotbags talks to the off-screen Campbell, that's a reference to musical director Colin Campbell. But you're right - there's no Basil listed in the credits. Would they really slip in a Clockwork Orange reference? I never really thought about it, but I suppose it's possible... Well spotted. :-)

Gordon M. the czech army at some point regarded the production of lsd as important as ammo and explosive ordinance because they would deploy it in the enemy ranks and disorient their troops rendering them ineffective in combat esp the officers and higher command

I think we all are. The Pink Windmill produced hyper-strength acid and ITV pumped it through our telly boxes. We haven't come down yet.

Apologies, didn't read the description! Amazing to see the late, great Ken Dodd floored by Emu - never thought the Squire of Knotty Ash would allow such a thing! I once worked with this show's choreographer Alan Harding, he went on to produce Michael Barrymore's shows for ITV. Unlike Michael Barrymore, he was a lovely and very funny man. Thanks for this great & rare upload! X
@VideotapeFTW6 жыл бұрын
You're very welcome, and no need to apologies - I came across a lot more snarky than I intended there. I've never met him, but I've heard nothing but good things about Alan Harding, and he's got a very impressive CV. I hope he's okay with the Pink Windmill Kids being his legacy, if that's how things turn out. The show wouldn't have worked with lesser choreography, and they were certainly nothing if not iconic!
@glamdolly306 жыл бұрын
Alan Harding was a fantastic choreographer, who came up with superb song and dance numbers for the ITV 'Barrymore' show. Sadly thanks to MB's subsequent scandals, those fantastic shows will never be repeated and Alan's work is now rarely seen. Alan parted company with MB acrimoniously I believe - Barrymore was like that when he was at the top, he used and abused the people who worked for him and made him such a success and showed them no loyalty. Strange thing about Barrymore is that many people who were close to him had bad luck. His ex wife Cheryl died of cancer just a few years after they divorced. After Alan Harding left the Barrymore show, he was run over and nearly killed in a freak accident in New York. And we all know what happened to a young man called Stuart Lubbock who accepted Barrymore's invitation to a pool party. But I digress! I also worked with the late great Ken Dodd, no seedy scandals there, just wonderful memories of a warm and wonderful, comic genius. Such a lovely human being. Great video and great fun chatting with you, thanks again! X
