Damn it feels like watching a national geographical of watching kens running around to chase their prey. Quality video. Ken was falling behind in the new seasons so I'm glad they keep giving him some buffs. I still suck with him though. Supposedly Necalli can combo into the vtrigger 1 combo from an ex command grab now? I haven't been on since the patch but I want to check that one out.

Also note that kens double dp anti air is way more consistent. In v trigger 1 you can lpdp into hpdp at almost all ranges, it also works with mpdp but its only consistent when it hits once. It makes ken feel like he has ryu vt2 anti airs that give oki

It appears vs2 also received a hidden buff. It has a higher arc angle allowing it to avoid projectiles easier. I could be wrong, but I don't remember this move being done on reaction. It was more of a read to avoid projectiles in the past and a difficult read at that.

Even though Ken's damage output possibilities have increased, the buffs didn't really improve his neutral. I appreciate the buffs but was more looking for tool improvements like...st.hk being either -3 on block or more push back for it to be difficult to punish similar to how Sakura's hk is

Seems like some really nice buffs overall. Its still odd too me that Ken still doesn't have a 3 Frame Button though. Hes considered a pretty fast character in all games which is why you'd think he would have a 3 Frame like most Shoto Characters. I think if Ken had Ryu type damage he'd be top tier for sure but, I think he might be floating around A-Tier or High B-Tier.

@@UserX03 That is not bad but, Ken being a Shoto on the faster side still puzzles me that he can't through a LP or LK as fast as Ryu, Akuma and Sakura. Not really sure why Capcom wouldn't address this unless he has never had a 3 frame button across the entirety franchise. That would maybe justify it I guess. I do know Ken at least in SFA3/SFZ3 it is actually harder to time his Crouching LK to hit multiple times as opposed to other Shoto Characters in that game which was always weird too me why that was. That also never made sense guess Ken just has flaws or differences in most games. I also know in SF3 they were gonna give him a completely different move set but, they deemed it too broken of a character with the moves they were planning on giving him. Funny enough he was still S Tier in that game. After hearing that I really wish we could see what they planned on giving him. Sorry for the long reply.

Ken is definitely higher in the list; closer to Ryu in my opinión. It seems that capcom realized that with season 5 Ken was now located way below all other shotos, hence these buffs. His range is better, and has more options for neutral such as the C.Hp deadly whiff punishes but there are a lot of other characters with way better range and neutral conversion, like seth for example. I don't think this puts Ken in top tier, it just puts him closer to Ryu.

He is clearly no top tier candidate. Except the St. HK crush counter which I think is imo badly designed, those buffs are interesting but Ken still suffers from lacks which should have been solved since S2. Overall, we can see that developers are working to make him even more viable and trying to not make him overpowered by slightly buff him.

Top tier no way, but better for sure. At least you won't drop alot combos now from max ranges. Ken Is still a char with alot gambling plays. No 3 frame button as a close combat char. Worst Fireball in the game. Slowest -4 round house. Terrible back walking speed.

3 Frame normal and that slow HK is still his biggest weaknesses. After suffering every season watching my main get nerfed, I just can't muster the strength to pick this game back up. It really sucks when your main gets the short straw. I ONLY play Ken sadly and he hasn't been the same since season 1. At least in season two, he had throw loops lol. For a second, they gave him a hi/low OH mix-up, but nope, that got snatched as well. Fun fact, in the beta Ken had a 3-frame normal and his run was almost instantly cancellable. I think it created an infinite or something?? He felt amazing! Ken has been nerfed from the start of the game.
