I met Ken at the Tucson International Airport years ago when his kids were playing here at the U of A. I almost cried, had to hold my composure. He said, "C'mon, let go take some pictures." And pictures we took. We talked and he signed a baseball for some kid there that just happened to have one on him for some reason. He's an overall great guy in and out of baseball and I'll never forget that day and will take that day with me to the grave.

I was never a Griffey fan I found him to be over rated in my opinion after he left Seattle he got injury prone while playing with Cincinnati ended up with the Chicago white Sox a shell of his former self I was happy he was no longer junior like before he was on his way out he hated the Yankees from what I heard billy Martin treated Ken Griffey sr badly while he was a Yankee that was bad on martins part if he did that to Ken Griffey senior I liked him I was glad that he was a Yankee but the bad treatment I didn't know because billy martin treated his dad bad while he was a Yankee that didn't mean for junior to take it out on all Yankee fans and the Yankee organization too which he did Yankee fans hated him back he hated the Yankees billy martin did that to his dad and that was wrong of billy martin I didn't like billy martin either because he was a racist especially the way he treated certain players on the Yankees too
@charlesllywelyngarcia88262 ай бұрын
How is it possible that you thought Griffey Jr was overrated. Elaborate..
@eddieq21892 ай бұрын
he never played in a world series just 1 playoff and yeah they beat the Yankees and then Cleveland took them out I thought Seattle was going to beat them easily with Griffey, Randy Johnson,Edgar Martinez they still lost the press made him seem like a great one man show to me he wasn't while he was with Seattle he was doing pretty good for himself there I couldn't figure out why he picked Cincinnati reds of all the teams that wanted him he could have gone to more contender like teams when he went to Cincinnati he just faded out not like when he was with Seattle I thought he'd stayed there till he retired he ended up with the Chicago white Sox at the end of his career that was sad but it happens sometimes these really good or great players end up with sub par teams in the end of they're time that to me is very sad
@charlesllywelyngarcia88262 ай бұрын
@eddieq2189 baseball is a team game. You can't expect one player to carry the whole team. If that's the case, then every other star player on that team was also overrated. The guy was a 5-tool player and did it at a very high level for a long period of time. He could hit, he hit for power, he could throw, he could run, and he was a great defensive outfielder. When he played, he was considered one of the best players of his era. He put up hall a fame numbers. Regardless of how his career ended, that should not tarnish his accomplishments. I wonder what you think about Mike Trout? Is he overrated also. He hasn't won anything with the Angels, but he has arguably been the best player in baseball for the past 10 years.
