Your relationship with your wife through the hard times - many spouses of entrepreneurs struggle to know what to survive and when to cut 'n run because it really isn't going to get better. How did she know to keep the faith, even when the water was turned off? I know you said the most important thing in romantic love is that you find someone who believes in you (and thank goodness my spouse and I have that in each other). But I have seen the other side in people that I know - where they lost everything multiple times and the trust took a thrashing in the marriage because the stakes and the devastating losses were too high for so long.

Ken Shamrock was and still is one of my favorite fighter/wrestler growing up. To hear him pour his heart out and give his life story about what he had to over come and never gave up is really inspirational. I really loved this interview. Most people have no idea what a spinal fusion is or how close to being "broken" you are. Once your nerves are not be supported by your body, you experience constant pain. Even after a fusion, it is constant thing you have to deal with. Fighting is the least thing you should be doing and yet he achieved so much. Respect

wow, so I'm a man over 50 who watched the original ufc's, i watched the 45 min match and when everyone around me was bored i watched Gracie, the 175 pounder defend against ken and was amazed at the skill by both fighters. The point i'm trying to make is for some reason i couldn't appreciate Ken after all his accomplishments until i hear things like this. I wonder if Ken Shamrock really realizes how great and important going public with this knowledge is and how much of a positive effect it will have in this sometimes shittehole of a world. After all the fights, I would bet this is the biggest accomplishment as a warrior - for you. there is a ton of honor in what you did here. although i never fought in the ufc i do tie in honor (call me old fashioned) with a great warrior spirit and you sir are one. Someone who has struggled, suffered and overcome and put themself in a position to teach and influence is the best thing ever

This has to be the most inspirational conversation I have heard in a long time. There is no sugar coating, it is an honest sharing of his life. Ken- your story is a testament to the human spirit, the power of love and forgiveness and dogged determination to never give up. Furthermore - you turned your adversities in to strengths from lessons learned along your journey. I imagine when you are laid to rest you will be the guy whom gets up and says “Oops, forgot to close the gate!” Your father, Ken, deserves credit where credit is due- he is a hero in my book! Not many like Mr. Shamrock, your father. Thank you for sharing your story and how you operate- gave me much needed food for thought.

Wow wow wow!! What a story! I used to work ring-side security when I was in college for NWA TNA in Nashville TN at the fairgrounds. I remember Ken sitting in the highest seats in the venue before the show where he could have almost done pullups on the ceiling if he wanted while all the other athletes were eating, getting dressed basically cutting up and having a good time. I remember being up at the top level and seeing him up there contrasted with everyone else downstairs I had just left and just saying to my buddy, "oh that's why Ken Shamrock is Ken Shamrock, and we'll all forget the rest of those folks downstairs!"
