Wow!!! Thanks for discussing about the ramp things. So happy that my question is being answered. I like ramps, but the tips on adjusting the pickups sure helps a lot. Thanks Mr. Smith. Loving this episode. 🙏🏻👍🏻

Love Ken's practical 'real world' approach to setting up his instruments. Nothing wrong with doing measurements 'by the numbers' mind you. But it is a fact that many bassists judge instruments by how they FEEL rather than a pre-defined numerical specification. And of course each player has their own unique needs and quirks when it comes to playability. Ken's philosophy starting at around 9:10 about neck stiffness is also extremely interesting and enlightening. A strong, stiff, straight bass guitar neck generally makes the strings FEEL softer on the fretboard. When I think about the variety of instruments I've owned as well as demoed in various stores and trade shows I have to say that makes a lot of sense. It's something I didn't really didn't consider until now. Thanks for sharing the wisdom and insight Ken.

I’m really enjoying ‘Ken’s corner’. You have such a relaxed and friendly manner, which is also very informative. I’ve owned a Smith bass since the 1990’s and currently have 3 of them. They are wonderful and a dream to play, so thank you Ken! May I also add that I think your son, Jon, is a great bass player (a chip off the old block, as they say). Very best wishes to you and your family.

Great video, Ken. My 2000 BSR 4 is still a gem - and has only been in the shop for check-ups, no work required!

Q: I owned a red transparent burner 4 for over a decade, it was my main instrument. I also owned a transparent red Wal mk2 Geddy Lee edition. Now, the question- why are the pickups literally so microphonic on the Burner 4's? The one I had was almost unusable when standing facing away from a GK head and cab at moderate volume. But I still LOVED the sound of the Burner live, it just had to be used with in ears mostly. The tone was so distinctive.

Great video and must admit how comfortable are the Smith's neck to play ,super fast and easy playing ,really don't know where is the secret but there it is ,and the other issue is with ALEMBIC, Smith basses are the best sounding basses with low action

Does the brass colour on the bridge wear off? On mine the B string saddle is worn (where my palm sometimes goes) and looks almost silverish underneath and not that lovely gold colour? Or does it need polished?

why you do not use just metric or usa hex keys// i know you supply with bass//but you know u are doing setting go test /on a practice /it takes a bit loonger or ends in bar and next day //in short you lost a simple hex key //now for string height i normal go buy few i feel will fit or be a hait too fat and if none is perfect i take dremel and in 1 min i do a bit of conus on hair too thick and it grabs in nice //and i when raising strings i detune string a bit// i guess u use mixed metric and inch because truss rod supplier or any //i did SOME RESERCH AND USA FINE THREAD IS CLOSE TO EU NORMAL //SO I D LIKE TO HAVE METRIC NORMAL OR FINE THREADS VS USA NORMAL //USA FINE ONES ARE OK BUT THAN NORMAL METRIC ARE A BEST AND MOST SIMPLE OPTION // OK ON REAR TUNING I USE FINE METRIC SO IT IS NOT SO DAMN HARD TO GET MOVING AS ORIGINAL STEINBERGER TUNING START// AND I USE TITANIUM TO TITANIUM CUSTOM MADE PULL SHOES FOR HOLDING PULLING STRING TO TUNE//BOLTS I BUY TITANIUM AIRCRAFT MODEL ROLLED NOT DIE CUT ONES//IT IS COSTING FEW 10 DOLL PER BASS BUT ALL THAT CAN MAKE TUNING MORE SOFT AND A LOT MORE PRECISE IT TAKES 15 TURNS TO GET SAME PULL 10 TURNS OF OLD SET WOULD DO // AND ROLLED SCREWS ARE SMOOTH SO A BIT GREASE AND THEY TUNE EASY AS BUTTER //VS ORIGINAL THAT FEEL LIKE SCREWING IN A NON PRE DRILLED WOOD NOT IN A NUT
