I remember in Sacramento back in 94 or so, my wife worked at a video arcade place, and I entered a tournament, I placed 17th out of 100 or so of us kids. I only got a t-shirt. I did that too! Though, in CE, they programmed Zangief to be able to grab you from pretty far to do the spinning pile driver. It's like the programmers knew. Lol. Later additions further made it a tad more difficult to do, but it still mostly worked. You just had to be a bit quicker and know his pattern.

Everyday after school I would walk home and stop by the video store. They had a game room with four arcade machines. I played this one. One quarter always got me about 25-30 minutes of game play. I mostly used Ken or Ryu unless I had an extra quarter to splurge and then I'd mess around with other characters. I would find peace and solace in a game about fighting? The video store is gone. The game is still around. I can still see Ryu walking his path alone and no matter how good Kens life is, he still sees Ryu when he closes his eyes to focus.
