Ken Block's first race back in a Subaru proved to be extra sketchy. Rainy conditions at the Dirtfish Olympus Rally led to multiple offs and crashes resulting in DNFs. Block finished 2nd overall at the race securing a 2nd place standing in the ARA championship. I'll just quickly pile on and say how good it is to see Ken back in a Subaru... but I mostly just came here to comment on Alex's balls of steel. A couple inches from imminent disaster (multiple times!) and my man just keeps spitting out notes with a constant cadence. Love it. The Gelsominos are killing it this year in the ARA.

Roughly 2 out of 10 Americans can even drive a manual. Can't remember the actual statistic but I think it was something like 17% of the population. Compared to Europe where almost everyone drives a manual, it's easy to see why rally isn't popular here.

Automatics were adapted in scale by geographical nature, marketing and a system of roads that encourage multitasking. To say Americans aren’t rally oriented due to driving automatics would put funny cars, drag racing, classic car enthusiasts. nascar all in their graves much faster than currently. But that is just not the case. Rally is not successful in America due to preferences and probably heritage in the same way drag racing is not in parts of Europe. PS I can walk down to the drag any F-S night and find a huge crowd.

Nah, that's fun but all-out is a relative thing too. Sebastien Loeb rarely drove flat-out, just look at his comeback after he hit that bridge in Rally New Zealand in 2010 and tumbled down into the high teens on the leaderboard. He then drove like he was on fire and managed to get 2nd place in the rally... Rallying's not about sheer speed, it's about perfect driving.

Get a used registered car with a certified cage already in it. Use snow tires for a cheaper rally tire option.

The cheapest option: 1. Get a PC with a Ryzen 3100 or 3500X with a B450 mATX board and 16GB of 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM any cheap 250 GB SSD and a Seasonic Focus 450W PSU and an RX 470/570 or GTX 1060 and any old 1080p Monitor 2. get a used Logitech (Driving Force GT) wheel with pedals and force feedback 3. get a used Occulus Rift gen 1 for 200 bucks or less 4. Get Dirt 3 and 4 for starters 5. Chew bubblegum and kick ass! :D

Rallycross/Autocross is probably the easiest to start. Basically any car qualifies and its a good "feet wet" place to get some skills. Any type of stage rally will require a very specific approved roll cage. The car must be 100% street legal, and youll quickly learn that even used rally tires, are VERY expensive.

As a man that learned to drive on those back roads, literally around Shelton, that rain is mild. And one of the issues they aren't showing is how many ballards (stone poles) are hiding in the trees. Seen so many people lose cars and trucks out there sliding around.

So for your next drift video I would recommend one of our more dangerous west coast roads in Canada bc called the Duffy lake road there is lots of switch backs, hair pins, and fun corner after corner and its one of the most beautiful mountain passes

I love the old imprezzas but the escort cozy he had was the bomb. This impreza is a beast but he was put into this event without really getting his feel for the setup he wants for it which is understandable. He did amazing though.
