Thanks for tuning back in! We're back in action this week after a few weeks away dealing with rust and mechanical issues for Vance. In this episode we head back to the Eyre Peninsula and stop at some of our favourite places (and a few new ones) as we make our way over to Western Australia. Stay tuned for next week as we cross the Nullarbor and start the next chapter of our trip in WA!
Places we went to in this video:
Greenly Beach
Sheringa Beach
Woolshed Cave
Streaky Bay

Ok guys, your not allowed to be off air for that long ever again, my wife & I started to get withdrawal anxiety,,,, we look forward to your travels & experiences as we are planning to travel a bit ourselves & we’re writing down all the good places to go to,,, oh & i know Vance may be a bit long in the tooth but it’s very handy to know what sort of things can go wrong, so don’t be shy about telling us about mechanical issues that you encounter. Stay safe & happy & we look forward to next week 👍

Great to see you back on the road again. Ah, good old west coast of Eyre Pen, windy !!!! Trouble is, most of our weather comes from the west so that means a lot of good old windy days.... I am looking forward to your Nullarbor run....did that back in the 70's in a Datsun 180B, tents on the roof, 2 littlies in nappies.......had lots fun...and I am sure you folks will too. It's a long road !!

Your right about the weather! Australia can be quite windy. Very nice move!! Oh! And Kombis love the Nullarbor. Mine are regulars there to Carnarvon in WA from Adelaide. We’re learning a lot from your experiences. TY.

Winds do tend to pick up during the change of seasons. Good idea not to hang around for the winter southerlies 🧊🥶. I've done the Nullabor a couple of times and it's not as boring as some say. Here's a tip: If you encounter rain and want to pull over, keep at minimum a drive wheel on the bitumen as the roadside can become extremely slippery and you won't get any traction. ⛸🚙

I love your episodes! Honest vibes, beautiful videography, great editing and music... love them :) But dang, how shit can weather be! I'm on my big east cost trip and I'm going through the area I was most excited to see and the weather is so bad there is every kind of weather warning and they're advising travelers to stay away! Bunkered down in a caravan park while it is buckets for 3 days. Good times ;)

When you go through WA, and it's extra hot, but not buggy, and you want more air through the van, but not have the back hatch open, is to get a turnbuckle with an eye on one end and a hook on the other. You can wrap the hook around the post on the frame just where the rear hatch latches, and put the eye in the latch on the hatch itself. By opening and lengthening or shortening the turnbuckle you can have the hatch open a "crack". That way your pillows won't fall out, but there will be air by your head when you sleep. You'd need the rear bug net if its buggy but for the desert it should be fine. Plus it's a cheap, light weight mod for Vance.

Oh, one other tip if you get stuck in the soft stuff, deflate your tires by 1/4 to 1/3. That will give you a bigger contact patch. You'll need to put the air back in once you are back on the pave though.

Yeah we've got that sorted. Thankfully we haven't had to worry about scorching nights yet!

We discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago and have just finished bingeing all your videos. Great to see from an aussie perspective. We follow quite a number of van lide channels. 'Tread the Globe' also plot their movements on Polarsteps, ever think of doing that?

Another beautiful video. I cant seem to find a lower priced t3 struggling to find them under 30k. Was wondeeing as im in s.a atm and regoed here. Do you have to rego your car in w.a if you stay there for a year?
@KendallandGlenn

Thanks Todd! Yeah they just keep going up and up in value that's for sure. We keep it registered in NSW but have to go to specific registered mechanics to keep the rego slip going each year
