(KY) - I know it's a drive but you're welcome to fish next door to us in Russell Co @ the Wolf Creek Fish Hatchery...they have a beautiful stream where they release trout and you can get your 5 apiece. Especially since sweet Abram got his stamp PLUS TROUT ARE DELICIOUS 😋 Anyway, thank you for your content, my son @ I have watched you for the last 4 yrs and have gotten closer enjoying your hunting! Donate some hemostates would be a good idea , Im so fanatical I try no touch releases whenever I can . Also trebble hooks are no good , I always change up lures to single siwash hooks or use a jig id even better jigs always give nose or upper jaw hook ups .

You are correct. Trout love highly oxygenated water and they should have no trouble breeding as long as they have sufficient food sources and areas to bed. They also really like moving water. People stress out about them too much. I have caught them using dental floss for line. As for bait they aren't picky. I usually catch bugs from the yard, use flies, get worms from my worm farm (you can just lay down a few layers of cardboard on soil with a few logs on top to keep it held down), bread or even velveeta works great. Also polarized glasses are game changer

RoosterTail 101: Cast, then briefly allow spinner to sink some... Preferably to midwater level. Then, pull-in before initiating reel retrieval. Keep a steady pace & the spinner's blade should flicker the whole way in.

Do you really wanna catch fish??? Rig an earthworm like a plastic worm on a size 2-4 bait hook, onto an Ultra Light rod w/ 4-6lb test spun on its reel. NO BOBBERS!!! You can add a small split-shot weight 6"-12" up from your bait if you need additional distance. Retrieve just as you would a plastic. If there is no action, just rest it along the bottom till something sees it down there wiggling. GdLk..... 🎣〰️🌊🪱〰️🐟BANG-BANG💥💥👆🤠.

Up here in Newfoundland we used corn for years ice fishing for trout, but it was found that the trout couldn't digest the corn and could starve with a belly full of corn kernels. Or so I was told anyway, so now it's illegal to use corn here for bait. I like to use a small brass spinner or a small red devil lure, or both if you cut back the spinner to make it half sized but to be honest, you can hammer a ball of tinfoil into a spoon and catch trout, just have to rehammer the 'spoon' with a rock every ten casts or so.

Rainbow trout require cold water that is moving like in a stream or a very cold lake. You might be better off with brook trout. They generally can tolerate more water conditions. I think your intention is good. You just want to research your species cause trout are difficult.

Yes, Rainbow Trout can reproduce in ponds. Speaking from experience with my pond. Salmon eggs work well along with spinners. But, the best I've found is Berkley Trout Dough. And the color pink is the best color for Rainbows, they can't leave it alone.

It is extremely unlikely that a stocked rainbow will spawn in his pond, they need a solid inlet/outlet flow of water

@@jmurphy68463 There’s definitely a lot that goes into it, but based on what i’ve seen in videos of his pond it’s very unlikely they will spawn in that specific pond. Trout are extremely picky about spawning conditions such as oxygen levels, ph, safety, ect. Also i’m not sure about KY but here in the PNW area where i’m from, they haven’t stocked fertile fish in wild waters for over a decade.

But ofc casuals like you think just cus a fish is bigger = eat all the food lol. If that was true there would be no problem adding green sunfish due to bass eating them and all there food. But due to green sunfish having large mouths they eat all the offspring from the bluegill even bass offspring.. same goes for the trout. They eat all the young bluegill making bass have less food. And there to big for bass to eat or do anything about.

Fishing tip: Instead of just hooking your worm on the hook, thread the worm through the entire length of the hook. That way when they bite at it they are always getting part of the hook. Not just the end of your worm.

Kendall, frankly I am surprised you didn't know this already. Trout need a high concentration of Oxygen in the water. Warm water just doesn't allow for that. Hence this is why Trout are generally found in COLD WATER, especially MOVING water which tends to be more highly Oxygenated.

Best trout bait is a red wiggler. They stay alive on your hook for a while and are the perfect size for smaller trout (and panfish and perch, etc).

Trout are light biters and don’t “hook themselves” like bass, so be ready to set the hook the instant you feel any movement. A super-sensitive rod and small lures work best. Trout are more picky about the lure’s color, size, and position in the water column than true movement.

Pinch you worm just below the guts and push it up over the hook like a tube bait on a jig and you will catch more fish , our worms up here in the northwest seem to be a lot larger but trust me leave a bit of worm tail hanging off the end of your hook and your golden .

The reason why no bait is due to the fact that trout swallow bait. Since you aren't allowed to keep them, you are only supposed to use nonbarbed hooks, artificial lures and flies to make sure the trout aren't severely damaged. Yes it is definitely to make sure trout are not overfished during the spawning season. Some Trout spawn around October and others around February. Hence why they are protected between October and March. Your desires are not a higher priority than the continued survival of the species.
