Love that little Indiana town... Had a daily truck route through there for many years and loved watching the trains except when delayed by them!!

Kendallville is a decent train-watching location with ample food, parking etc. But in the summer, things can get abit rough on the weekends at times. Waterloo, 12 miles to the east, is much quieter, and unlike K-ville which is in the middle of two curves, the trk at Waterloo is arrow-straight and approaching trains can easily be seen for miles in either direction. Either way, with the heavily-traffic'd Chicago Line, you will enjoy yourself!

Wow! A Green and white BNSF unit around the 17 minute mark! Very rare anymore...

You should hear the SD60Es from a dead stop.. They sound almost like Cat engine powered units. I've probably seen a couple of them and one was leading a manifest north through Conroe.

Charlie - I use an Audio-Technica Pro 24 external microphone. It does a really nice job; it's one of the best mic's I've come across - Chris W.

Great action! I am curious... with what microphone do you record these? The Doppler effect is fun to capture as the engines pass by.

Plz explain why sometimes there is a mix of power units in a train: bnsf-cp-ns and such. Are they just moving a unit somewhere or it was available for work?
