High quality for sure! With all these rappers (Ye, Kendrick, Travis Scott, Drake etc) vocal chains which Neve 1073 are their engineers using? Is it the SPX that you show on here or is it the 1073 Classic?

I definitely see an industry standard for vocal chains. It actually makes sense especially if there’s multiple recording sessions of later features you want to have a consistent sound colouring when it comes to vocals. Every big commercial or private high end studio should have these in there tool boxes. Or……Have the best modeling mic and related plug ins to closely match. I love this channel. It’s really helpful bro 💯

Townsend labs Sphere L22, Rode Nt 1 into a Presonus Io station 24c, Volt 476p, or UAD Apollo Duo, running into a 610 A/ or B plug in depending on the style of the song. Or the Neve 88R Channel strip plug in.

u87, avalon 737, distressor, Nas used a similar chain since God Son frequently, Ludacris as well. Think Nas was in the Sony 800 though

“Better” is subjective. Neve is used on almost every single artist right now. Avalon has been phased out with the early Atlanta scene.

yep, I have many stories from top engineers where they recorded album vocals into an mbox, no other mic pres w things like and sm7 or TLM 103... There is no such thing as better... Is a les paul better then a strat, or is a cheap danelectro better than a gretsch it doesnt matter. Prince used everything from 200.00 cheap guitars to expensive ones.. Different tool, same result..

Yea the mic 🎤 is the most expensive thing on this list. So what’s that say? The mic is valued very high next to the talent on the boards and the talent on the mic. Atmosphere and pre amp plays a big part too

As mentioned before in another video I use the TLM103 in my vocal chain I'm very interested in using a tube microphone, any suggestions? I have a low male voice. Looking at TF51 or something of the caliber. I'm very interested in know what Kevin Gates vocal chain is bc he records a lot on the go as well as in the studio. Keep in mind, the TLM 103 is no joke, there are many tube mic. Many big names use the TLM 103.. its a great mic..There are some great tube mics out there, mojave audio...

@@archiebeatz Adeles Hello song was recorded on Apollo twin using apollos unison 610 mic pre A,, as was Billie Eilish whole 1st album. I own both an avalon 737 tube pre and a chandler tg 2 pre. However, I've done tests with the Unison U/A audio plugin versions of the avalon and chandler and the plugins sound just as good.

WA73 into WA2A into apollo twin x. Gain staged correctly and sounds like crap. I'm doing something wrong.

Make sure you’re not hitting your preamp too hot. Don’t compress a lot going in. And get an ADAT cable, you want to bypass the pre amps on the twin so you can just get the analogue to digital conversion. Troubleshoot

@@ankeviousoliver4472 there’s various talk about the line input bypassing the pre amps on the twin. From what I hear, that is an alternative to ADAT, but then again I haven’t tried it.
