Thank you for your teaching and help. The dojo in my town is falling apart and I unfortunately feel left behind because I am new. So I practice at home.

That's interesting I wasn't taught short motion until about 3 years into my practice. And after 8 years finding that I still need to work on my left hand strength and maybe my flexibility. Maybe being age 55 is also part of the issue but...

When doing this exercise how long should we do this? How many times per day?

Is forearm/grip strength needed for kendo?

as a long time practitioner, I observed that forearm/grip strength occurs naturally as a result of the suburis so you don't have to deliberately work on it.

If you are a computer jockey or programmer or user like I have been for 30 years you may need to do more to strengthen your grip. Maybe by the old fashioned grip strength there like they used in the 1970s or eighties that you could squeeze at your desk. So yes strength and flexibility in your forearm and for each finger is very important.
