This is a very simple yet powerful way of training the brain to perform the correct fumikomi motion. Thanks sensei 👏🏻👏🏻

I’ve been trying to figure the mechanics for fumikomi and this is by far the best explanation on KZbin. I was kicking my left foot out and my sensei wouldn’t explain why this was happening. This explanation made my footwork so much better. Thank you

I practice kendo 1995. Which I am practicing again after 30 years, which I started again which my left foot keeps going to outside. The issue is that 2012 to 2016. i broke my foot and have aluminum pieces in my right leg. It doesn’t hurt,, but should I keep practicing or end it. I love kendo and my old friends. My friends are now 40 and 50 and an I am the old guy. Should I continue or stop??? Frank 😢

Thanks for leaving a message, @Californiansurfer! 😄If your left foot keeps opening to the left because of the injury, then let it be. That is your "natural" stance. I snapped the left Achilles tendon, tore the left knee MCL and ACL, and had operations on the right and left shoulders. My back has been bad since when I was 14. My left wrist has been bad since when I was 12. Now at the age of 50, I am suffering from pain in my right elbow and left hip joint. I have no plan to quit kendo. I think every single person should do their own kendo. If you cannot have your left foot straight, that is fine. Do what you can do. We don't need to do kendo like younger people. I believe older people can still become stronger and have fun in kendo. If you need help, let me know. My father started kendo at the age of 55. He became 5-dan. www.kendo-guide.com/unknown_kendoist.html 😊👍

before, i thought i need to use left leg to push my hip and body up, and quickly drag up the left leg , all the strength is from left leg. But now i know i can simple just straight up my right knee and my left leg will follow? Faster ?

Thank you for your comment, @tankasty!😀 If it works for you, that's great! I am giving you a different perspective. That is all. Some people cannot do what they are supposed to do by focusing on the left foot. But if they change their perspectives, they can. So I am giving a different perspective. Try this and see what happens. And please report back!
