I was there yesterday too, the timespan between first match and final match was 7 hours, many matches went into encho, some even lasted 20 and 30minutes. During the final many persons around me were nearly falling asleep. Cant blame them, very hard to stay focused by watching for 7h straight. Great point and championship though

Fascinating to watch these professionals how they truly master the integration from mindfulness silence to explosion in man kind. Such a delicate sport and culture. I still hold the great memories I have when I played kendo many years ago with Japanse people in Amstelveen, with lots of inspiring things in learned in life which I still hold today.
when they are face to face and backing up why the guy that has his shinai over the others does not strike to the head or arm? you are not allowed to strike while backing up?
@瀧川務-x2e3 жыл бұрын
When they are face to face , they can strike head or arm by stepping back quickly . if they can't find the chance to beat, One of them wants to make a space and give some sign to the opponent . the opponent understand we need to make a space and start fighting. that the reason both of them basically don't strike opponent while thy are backing up. Sometimes , opponent tries to strike, while they are backing. So both of them carefully back up . hn....It's difficut to explain.

Because both of them can attack. If one tries to attack, the other will too. So it's just too risky for most people.

Why do they scream like that is it to get the opposition to get startled?

its called kiai.
@カーン-d7t3 жыл бұрын
a kendōka uses kiai, kind of like shouting, to let her or his energy out and focus on the opponent movements, it's an essential part of striking and sword crossing. it also must be used after a hit to the opponent, or else the hit cannot be count as a point

Why don't they do gut poses? The answer is simple. Do you do guts poses when you kill someone?
