I nominate 1. the scene in Lord of the Rings when Denethor is eating super sloppily in front of Pippin while it cuts to scenes of war. "Eating like Gondor" is what we call sloppy eating in our house, especially with cherry tomatoes. 2. All Dogs Go to Heaven when they split the last slice of pizza with all the puppies. Yummiest cartoon pizza ever, a song, and puppies. What else could you want? and 3. Beetlejuice Day-O scene. I'm shook it wasn't mentioned!

OH MY GOODNESS, The dinner scene from While You Were Sleeping is THE most quoted movie in my family. Even my father and brother can quote it. It was the exact scene that I first thought of when I began watching this video. "These mashed potatoes are so creamy."

Moonstruck has so many great table scenes at least 6 , but the best Is probably the last scene, the whole family starts gathering at the breakfast table , it’s great!

For me, the first ones that come to mind are from Tortilla Soup--the first Sunday dinner scene that opens the film (beautiful cinematography of meal prep and then the family relationships) and the last dinner scene (plot twist!). Another is purely from my "theatre side"--the dinner scene in Gosford Park when the camera pans the formal dinner scene and you hear snippets of conversation which at first seem meaningless but play into character and plot development. Another one is from the 1988 film Beetlejuice when everyone except Winona Ryder's character start dancing around to Harry Belafonte's rendition of "Day-O." And finally, a heartwarming one from the movie Chef--when Sofia Vergara informs Jon Favreau that his Cuban sandwiches are better than the ones they're current eating.

I adore that scene in while you were sleeping also, Kendra. Actually all the conversations between the 4 "older" adults are so funny. The whole movie is excellent! Also, I love the scene in return to me when David duchovny is first set up on a blind date and his date does the whole thing about needing bottled water and then Minnie driver enjoys a bottle of water and pours tap water into it and David duchovny sees her doing it. So funny!

Apropos of monkey brains: In Calvin and Hobbes, the mother was making stuffed peppers, and Calvin was (of course) gagging, so she said she was making monkey heads. Calvin was intrigued. At the table, he ate them, discussing their rubbery texture, and the father was grossed out.

Re monkey brains: India refused to have the movie made there because of the portrayal. Sri Lanka is where it was filmed. They DO NOT eat monkey brains in either country. However doing a quick online search...monkey brains do appear to be a thing in China. Love this video series - so helpful and FUN!
