2:08 I disagree completely. I’ve been listening to my TPAB CD in my car almost every time I’m driving to work for the past couple months and I still love it. The blacker the berry especially, never gets old for me. I agree that most of the tracks aren’t the same when they’re not played in consecutive order, but I don’t view that as a bad thing. This album tells a story and playing it in random order would not be doing it justice.

Kendrick fans managed to really piss Canibus off. Notice to Kdot Stans: don't try to bully a professional music reviewer into liking the stuff that you like. They have listened to *way* more music than you have, and they can defend their opinions in a way that you can't defend yours. Canibus was putting out the illest tracks before you Zoomers were even before. He is a legendary MC and has forgotten more hip Hop than you\ve ever known.
@petercoderch5892 жыл бұрын
@Kunal Kumar Absolutely. It is *obvious* that HHU is Canibus. The voice could be someone else reading for him, or a voice synthesizer. Canibus is god-tier MC. Even though he didn't have many albums and the production is mid and Canibus had terrible beat selection, lyrically Canibus is top #3 of all times. I also love that Canibus respects Eminem so much and ranks him so highly despite them having beefed back in the 90's. It goes to show that rivals can admire each other and become friends. Can you imagine, the nerve of these 18 year-old Zoomers trying to argue Hip Hop with freakin' Canibus?🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I also love the thing u said about art being subjective, most stans don't realised that not everyone is going to feel the same way as they do about something and he himself admitted that its all about perspective and we should all respect each others opinion. I for one think TPAB is his best work,but it's all perspective

Art is an expression of the artist left for the viewer to interpret. There’s a difference between not liking someone’s art and publicly bashing it. People that use the word “mid” say things like “cap” and “the audacity” people that can’t think for themselves and go with what’s “cool” at the moment. GKMC is my favorite album of his but this one is a close second for me. This album is the whole cake with the toppings for me. While I personally can't understand your heavy critiscisms for his most recent project, I understand that you have a very different taste and get different things out of the music you listen to, though it was still hard hearing that view when my experience was so different, and when you say thing like "out rapped" or lazy rapping, it does make me a little ticked off because for me it was done for a reason and was perfect for hooking me into that narrative, and if he did another way I would have had 0 attachment to it. This just highlights to me how radically different opinions can be from people who share this common interest and like for kendricks older projects, and I'm overall happy to hear someone so unapologetically honest on how they feel when they are so heavily outnumbered in the "community" if that's the right word for it. Thank you for your opinion, as much as I disagree with it (btw I think it comes down to your obvious attraction to older hip hop and that style, whereas alot more people like the new and experimental rap/hip hop from artists like Danny brown, Tyler, now kendrick, death grips and many more who have far less conventional sounds. I see alot of people calling this "real hip hop" and that may be true lyrically if that's what you believe, but sonically this is far from what the normal hip hop standards are. Overall I enjoyed the albums as a piece of art, and I even shed a tear on mother I sober, but I agree that I won't comeback to it nearly as much as other kendrick albums, and some songs are definately made for their affect and not replay value, like a movie that you watch once and have an amazing experience with but won't comeback to unless you forget what happens and want to experience that again. This album is not a vibe, it doesn't try to be and so I don't try to get that from it. I'm starting to ramble so I'll stop now) Hope the incessant hate isn't too much as that video has tons of comments displaying exactly what you said here about disregarding opinions and treating them like factual statements that must be disproven, I'm happy you made that video but honestly you'd be best just muting that shit of it gets too much

HHU, off-topic, but tomorrow is the 20th anniversary of The Eminem Show and we gotta celebreate somehow. To say that album is iconic is an understatement. While MMLP might have the deeper tracks in terms of concept, TES has the best beats, flows and production of Em's career. Even Em's haters love that album. I mean, Pitchfork hates Em and they still gave that album a 91/100. I don't know why people go bananas from the opinion of this guy or simply agree immediately without even forming an opinion by yourselves. Looks like a sheep mentality. He has an argument which people have to respect even though you disagree. But everyone's opinion is as important not just he's. If he thinks the album was trash that's he's opinion, it's not a fact or a lie. It's just an opinion. He's entitled to his own opinion same as all of you. He's not the last word in hip hop. Plus he claims to be Hip Hop Universe and my only problem with this is the word "universe" sitting the channel as practically hip hop from all around the world even though he only talks and states opinions and edits ( which are great amazing by the way) of the G.O.A.T.s from the USA. I've never seen Hip Hop Universe get out of his comfort zone ( besides the auto tune, mumble rap and trap videos) and talk about rappers from all over the world, doing a bit more investigation of legends in the world of hip hop not only from the USA. He only sites some international rappers when he does the videos of rappers that pass away. I bet he doesn't even know who Canserbero was. He doesn't even know who's AL2, Nach, Kase -O, El B, Chojin, Porta etc. So people going crazy about an opinion which is totally respected and well stated by him but it's just an opinion. He's doesn't have the word in what's good, bad and ugly in the hip hop genre.

@@philmecrakin2328 I'm stating facts lol I'm not mad about his opinion about Kendricks album. It's just an opinion lol. I just find funny how people go crazy over what Hip Hop Universe says. He's just a guy that does analisis on hip hop, he's practically a hip hop fan. Nothing else, he doesn't have the last word in what happens in the hip hop genre. You must be a hip hop universe stan so I'm sorry I offended your hero 👌😭

So don’t call me a stan making assumptions just cos I said suin bruh. Also he doesn’t do analysis, he thinks he’s doing a analysis but he knows nothing about analysing or hip hop. I’ve seen his videos he don’t even point out logical reasons for anything he just speaks waffle. This is what happens when foreigners discover rap, they act like know all. And plus all I even said to you was that u wrote a whole essay, which I did, didnr you? So idk why u wrote all that as if what i said wasn’t true or hating. U did write an essay didn’t you ?

Not a bad ranking. Most people said a pimp a butterfly was his best album but I always thought was his second best behind gkmc. I personally rank his albums gkmc and pimp a butterfly s tier, A tier for damn, B tier for mr morales and section 80, and C for untitled remastered. Anyways I know this wasn’t ur thoughts on the album but I’ll just put it here. I personally think the album was good but far from his best work. Didn’t sound very good, was a little boring but something I can listen to and enjoy with a full album all together. Can’t really have any songs on my playlist or listen to any songs on its own except for a few songs I really liked. I give the album a 7/10. Underwhelming for his return but I believe he can come back and release a great album. But I do feel his time is coming for him where I wouldn’t say fallen off but like not in the mainstream or big artists a whole bunch of people listen to.

Let's be honest about Kendrick here. Most old heads and or rap fans who really love the 90's and early '00 era have a love/hate relationship with Kendrick. They love him cause he brought back storytelling/creative concepts back to the mainstream on a global level, so its not hard for them to rock with Kendrick as the leader of the new school but on the flip side...they hate the fact that a rapper from the 2010s makes music on par and in a lot of cases better or more creative/unique music than the greats of those eras. Now that people are saying he has one of the best discographies in hip hop/music. The old heads or 90s/early '00 enthusiasts feel the need to hate on MM&TBS or call it "mid" and I'm sorry but... I'm not buying it at all. The concepts/content are great and instrumentally/sonically more layered and intricate. On top of that the songwriting is catchy and has a ton of replay value this part is not an opinion its a fact. This is a more catchy/replayable rap album than any other mainstream rap album from last year and this year so far. All this "mid talk/trash talk" is cap and this "the songs get old fast talk" is also cap. N95, Die Hard, Rich Spirit, Father Time, Purple Hearts, Count Me Out, Silent Hill, Savior, Mr. Moral and even Mirror aren't "mid" and none are "trash." They are all catchy. MM&TBS is like a 8/10 or better. I'm tired of the cap and the Kendrick disrespect.

Ngl I personally think Nas’s king disease 2 and his Magic album is better than Kendrick’s new project. I felt like he was kinda all over the place and the beat selection wasn’t really enjoyable for me but overall it’s not a bad album. It’s mid for me but it’s my least favorite album by Kendrick. I still think both Damn and good kid, maad city projects are way better and more enjoyable to me.

Also, I disagree wholeheartedly that music has to be "enjoyable". Sometimes, music or art can be grating or irritating, but still serve its purpose as far as a narrative goes. I hate this idea that music has to be consumable and easy to listen to, because it holds musicians back from exploring dissonance or other emotions when painting on the canvas sonically. If not for people really pushing the envelope, we wouldn't have rap, which to many people wasn't "enjoyable" either. Anyways, have a good one man.
