@@glockz4940Deja Vu is amazing. I think sometimes people are just too stuck on their nostalgia of early Em. The hook, flow, and story are all amazing on that song. It’s better than Mockingbird in my opinion and on par with When I’m Gone. Don’t get me wrong it’s a classic track, but I think people sometimes get stuck in the nostalgia of the music video and the popularity of that track that they can’t give anything else credit. I’m not trying to change your mind about Relapse but it really seems like you don’t understand the concept at all. You don’t like it sonically, fine. But to say it’s a bunch of filler songs is crazy. The entire album is written as a journal of his addiction, but it’s written in the form of horrorcore. It starts off where Em is having a conversation with his doctor as he’s being discharged from rehab. He realizes he’s actually in a nightmare and it goes into 3am. You then have 2 songs telling us how Em becomes a candidate for drug addiction by getting incredibly honest and graphic about his relationships with his mother and stepfather. Hello is literally written as a day in the life of an addict. I won’t go through the entire album but you’re seriously diminishing the creativity of this project. It’s so popular in recent years because ppl actually took the time to listen to it instead of basing their opinion off of one listen or a critical review

What many people fail to take into account when assessing Eminem's strong dislikal for Relapse is human psychology. You guys know how we store permanently bad memories about our hardest and worst times, think about bad times from your life and think how inherently negative you feel about those. It's same: Eminem was in his worst ever period in his Relapse days, grieving Proof, relapsing to addiction over and over again, feeling helpless. That explains why he has such a negative association with Relapse, it's simply not like he is evaluating things solely from a musical or sonical standpoint. Who knows, he may even be feeling guilt over "having evil fantasies", or shame over spilling the beans on them. The whole album is simply one big dark eerie thing, which is the reason it is my fav Eminem album but yeah, that's the psychology behind his assessment of the album.

I respect your take. I love listening to intelligent analysts show that everything they’re discussing was heavily weighed and thoroughly thought out. My list is different to yours, and I don’t think Encore is that strong tbh. It’s best songs feel like diluted Eminem Show. If you don’t pair Encore with TES, but instead compare the two, it never treads new ground, he became very cliché on Encore, and the reason you love the best songs on Encore is because you could fit them on TES (based on your analysis), but Encore is not an expansion pack of TES. Compared to his previous 3 albums, it sounds desperate and not very creative at the same time, I think it’s because Em believed he already knew what slim shady is in a nutshell (the guy who hates his mom, kills his wife, but loves his baby girl). I don’t think that’s what Slim Shady is, Slim Shady is a great storyteller with unbelievable lyricism and a neck for horror core. Slim shady is grounded in where he comes from, but loves taking the listener for a ride. From Eminem Show onwards, Em made himself formulaic, that’s the biggest thing I disliked about the Eminem Show/8 Mile/Encore era (‘02 - ‘05) vs the SSLP, 2001 Chronic, MMLP and Devil’s Night with D12 era (‘99 - ‘01). The former preferred creativity and the latter preferred familiarity. I mean, when you listen to TES almost every song he brings up his wife just to trash her, and he uses Hailie to pull on the heartstrings. That is also the main theme of encore. MMLP is about his love for hip hop and showcasing his skills. So I rate Encore as his second most trash album because it was reliant on what was big on Eminem Show, and everything else was just him showing that his shunning he’s creativity.

I've always listed Eminem as one of the most creative writers in hip-hop history, or even anywhere, and Relapse is his most creative work from a conceptual point of view. Where his first four (I'll exclude Infinite for this particular exercise) felt personal due to their subject matter, and the depth of the emotions evoked by such tracks as Hailie's Song or Rock Bottom for example, Relapse feels even more personal to me because this is the first time he's not rapping for anybody except himself. He's not trying to impress anyone. He's not trying to make amends for being white and successful. He's not trying to reassure you that this is all an act and he doesn't mean any of the fucked up shit he says. He's not trying to remind us that actually he's a very good father thank you very much. He's just unhinged and free and rapping about whatever he wants, no matter how fucked up, and honestly it's fucking fascinating to put yourself in his mindset on this album. And yes, of course, because it's Eminem, the execution is as entertaining as the concept itself. The rhyming is some of the best I've ever heard, from his albums or otherwise. Even on a "corny" song like We Made You his rhyming is unbelievable: "the enforcer/looking for more women to torture/walk up to the cutest girl and Charlie-horse her/sorry Portia, but what's Ellen DeGeneres//have that I don't? Are you telling me tenderness?" I don't know a single other artist who could come up with those rhymes. The beats are all fun as hell. There are very, very few features, meaning he's doing all the heavy lifting on the entire album. No posse cuts. No female choruses like on Recovery or later Revival. And for all the hate the accent has gotten over the years, a) it does grow on you to the point where it enriches rather than weakens the project and b) being so committed to this bit that you know people will hate, and keep it up for the best part of a 20-something track album, only makes the album more personal to me given the huge gamble. This is a unique album in Eminem's discography, who himself is a unique artist in hip-hop. Track for track I'd say 3am, Stay Wide Awake, Same Song and Dance, Crack a Bottle, Beautiful and Deja Vu all belong in a Top 100. The rest are B- at worst.

What's even better is that most of the songs are allegories, so they have a deeper meaning. But only a few people know about this.

didn't know that "Brand New Dance" was originally made for Encore. Does anyone know if it's the original version now or did Em reproduced and and rerecorded it for the Death of Slim Shady? It's my fav song of the new album tbh lol
@brettburgess50485 ай бұрын
Both. It has some original recorded lyrics, but also has an entire new verse with references that were post encore

MMLP2 is so underrated, top 5 album in his discography imo. Show it some more love.
In my opinion. Relapse is better than Encore because the songs i like on them all get laughs out of me

Moving Relapse and Recovery to d tear is something i wouldve never done. They are both better than Kamikaze, marshall mathers lp 2 and infinite. That makes no sense. In my opinion. I wouldve put Revival in D tear and Kamikaze in F tear.

The way i would rank it is. S: Marhall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show, and the slim shady LP. A: The Death Of Slim Shady, Encore, Recovery. B: Relapse, Marahall Mathers LP 2. C: Infinite (never listened to it but i feel like itll be better than Kamikaze and Revival) D: Revival. F: Kamikaze

You saying that the Eminem songs on the 8 Mile soundtrack should've been on The Eminem Show is a dumb take, because those songs didn't match the theme of the album, I read somewhere that Cleaning out my closet was supposed to be a soundtrack for the trailer of the movie, but Em chose to not put it cause it's a personal song and instead he did Lose Yourself, so with this take right here, you're absolutely wrong

relapse is a fantastic album its his 3 best album the skill those schemes and flows take are crazy the picture that he paints its a amazing album. None of the songs on kamikaze are in his top50?? the ringer might be a top 10 em song you're proving his point " you mention me millions of views"

I STILL ask myself: *"Why Em cut 'My Darling' from RELAPSE?!"* I just LOVE this song and for me, personally, it comes in top 20 of his pieces for me. All 'Fight Club' reference in a story, I never get tired of this song.

My personal favorite is The Eminem Show n for me that was Em's peak, not lyrically because he's always been nice but where his lyrics combined perfectly with his flow. Also the range on that album. He's got introspective joints, stories, straight pump up songs, diss/battle records etc. I rem it was his next album where he dropped...

As someone who lived intensly the release of SSLP, this became instantly my favorite album for at least 10 years. If i go track vs track, i think SSLP will win over MMLP. TES is a special case to me: the concept is really good, most songs are lyricaly better, beats are incredible,... But as a whole project, I prefer SSLP unique atmosphere.
Its Valid man… I just dont really like the song Kim… But I might do one day 😊

MMLP2 bodies TDOSS and MTBMB combined... TDOSS doesn't have a single classic track. MTBMB is over cluttered.
@varulven04794 ай бұрын
@@Nighhhts Yh when you look at it like that youre right… I had been thinking about my own list: S: MMLP, TES, SSLP A: MMLP2, Relapse, TDOSS B: MTBMB, Recovery, Encore C: Kamikaze D: Infinte F: Revival The reason for TDOSS being in A-tier and not B-tier is Because it has some really good bangers in it like “a brand new dance” “fuel” “lucifer” “somebody save me” and Then ofc “guilty concience 2” Its like a classic throw back to guilty concience and “a brand new dance” was suppossed to release with Encore… But since the guy he was refereing about in that song had died… Then it didnt make the Cut… so Its technically and old song But just surfaced now since Its years ago…
Please, can you do a ranking for all albums of 2Pac? This would be so nice! 🙏🏻

I’m happy with the placement of Music to be murdered by and Kamikaze. I feel people try to discredit them just because people like to hate on new Eminem. They’re both really good. I’d even personally put music to be murdered by higher
