Seeing an interview after listening to all his albums recently, I find it super interesting how raw and emotional he is when speaking. His music is definitely that but it has a kind of anger to it. Eminem - I would say more DMX - the anger the rage - the PAIN. Tupac was a prophet. Kendrick recognizes him as a prophet- Tupac has heart, brains, wisdom, foolishness, pain, vulnerability and devastating honesty not just for himself, for the CULTURE…Kendrick is that guy.

"this how it is when you in the matrix.. dodging bullets.. reaping what you sow". he's referring to the system we are all trying to survive in.. which all of us will perish in regardless. sonically & conceptually he implies that the music is what will live on beyond an actual human life full of emotions. 💯

'Damn.' goes in my top 20 best albums of all time across all genres. It is a masterpiece. It's shocking, it's so good.

The way Kendrick corrects this guy at 22:49 "Proactive"

he didn't correct him, he reinforced it.

My list in no particular order... Eminem, Tupac, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, and Andre 3000.

just curious but why Andre? In my opinion he's not much better than Big Boi. I've never heard a reason or was given proof of Andre's top 5 worthy skill
@slaughterbuku66147 жыл бұрын
Donte Looney That's not smart to say. because Kendrick gets his style from Andre . He even samples two songs from Andre on DAMN.

Andre paints what he is rapping. The way he describes what he says is just amazing to me. Plus his flow back then was ahead of his time.

andre is good but not my top 5, neither is Pac. biggie is a better lyricst and storyteller then both. warning, 10 crack commandents, I got a story to tell etc. u can visually see what biggie is saying.
@Zephead107 жыл бұрын
I like biggie. But my top 5 doesn't just consist of storytelling, but how they make me feel. Pac had more substance than Biggie. Plus Biggie fabricated many of the things he rapped about. His mom was a teacher with a good paying job.

I know this comment is late but this is one of my favorite interviews of all time. The way Kendrick describes his love for music and what it means to him is just beautiful. Along with what message he wants for the fans and how much he cares about what it portrays to him.

Control is still such an impactful track. It's difficult to remember that the song didn't even belong to Kendrick. He didn't claim to be the greatest to just be a headline, he said it because he believed it. You can only become what you desire if you first believe it. Thank you K-Dot for inspiring a generation.

It really is a breath of fresh air to hear Cole and Kendrick speak their minds in interviews.👑

This Interview Was Amazing, Incredible, And Inspirational. Kendrick Is The Only Person Who Knows What He Was Talking About In His Music... He Can See What's Going On Right Now. Every Album, And Every Song... He Tells A Story That We Can Relate Too.

Kendrick & 3 Stacks are very similar in thought… I would love to see these 2 do a whole 8-10 songs speaking their mines…
