With good kid, m.A.A.d. city, Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar drops what's easily hip hop's most cinematic album of 2012.
What did you think of this album? Love it? Hate it? Why? What should I review next, eh?

This album should come with a plot synopsis like a movie: 16-Year old Kendrick Lamar meets the girl of his dreems, Shereane, but as her gang affiliated cousins intervene with Kendrick's relationship with his friends and Sherane, he comes to realize that the "gangsta" lifestyle isn't what it was made out to be.

Sing about me, I'm dying of thirst. Best song I have ever heard, hands down. Its impact on me as a person and as a lover of music and Kendrick is incredible. Nobody can tell a story with that kind of lyrical genius and keep me wanting more for 12 minutes, and I find a new line every time. Its astounding and I listen to it every day. I think you completely misunderstood the hook in Real. Kendrick is criticizing the attitude of Compton culture, particularly outgoing women. He's very critical of their propensity to call themselves "real". It's purposefully vapid. He thinks they are foolish and misguided, and made a hook that mirrors that.

# Eminem has like 2 good albums (slim shady lp and infinite) and the rest of his stuff ranges from ok to utter garbage. Kendrick’s worst album, Section.80 is better than Eminem’s best. Kendrick’s better in every conceivable way, writing, flow, production choices, song topics literally anything he beats him. But hey that’s just me, why do you prefer Eminem?

Honestly at this point, after TPAB, GKMC, S80, OD, and TKLEP considering how Kendrick has made great music, and great lyrics, for quite some time, and very consistently, if he gets one more great album out there, he deserves to be put as one of the best to ever do it.

+Benjamin Acevedo He's already widely considered as top 10 all time. And its really really really hard to top TPAB bro. So don't expect it to happen. TPAB is the highest rated hiphop album ever by critics. If he releases a couple more good to great albums he'd be top 3 all time in my opinion. Cause he already has 2 instant classics, and great mixtapes under his belt. Only a handful of rappers have 2 Classic albums. People set the bar wayyy too high these days on best rappers all time. No disrespect to the greats, but TPAB is better than most if not all their albums. People put too much bias on the old school...
@Ben-gd4ds
@Ben-gd4ds 8 жыл бұрын
+Justin Peralta yea you're right. But I honestly feel like Kendrick has it in him to make even more great music (not saying it will top TPAB) but just music that he loves. I really respect and love the face that Kendrick takes his time with a record and doesn't skimp on any part of it, the lyrics, the melodies, the instrumentations, the messages, is something he always puts 100% into. And I honestly don't feel like it's ever his intention to make albums that top the previous ones, I feel like he just makes great music that he truly feels is great. I could see a top 5 spot, definitely top 10 as well. How do you feel about the collab album him and Cole are doing?

As a metalhead who rarely goes out of his way to listen to other stuff, I decided to finally give Kendrick Lamar a try. I listened to Section 80 and GKMC, and I’m upset that I’ve been missing out on this art. (2017) good kid, m.A.A.d city is definitely a masterpiece, tracks like: Backseat Freestyle The Art Of Peer Pressure good kid m.A.A.d city (Feat. I have listened to this album more than any album I own and I am not even a hip hop head. One of, if not the best, albums in terms of structure, message and overall musicality I have ever heard. In my opinion it was the rap album that will change this genre from here on.

"I'm real I'm real I'm rly rly real" is an awesome hook tf you talking about Fantano? Vapid? Maybe a little, but it contrasts so well with his more thought provoking verses. It doesn't need to be anything else. I actually love how simple the line is. I'm Real is one of Kendrick's best songs.
