Kendrick is playing the Super Bowl and people are saying he's a hypocrite and a sellout. And yet people also want Wayne to play the Super Bowl so his legacy can be respected and he can get his flowers. So, which is it, really? Yall have to choose. First off I need you guys to know this is the best Rap Convo space online at present. So much of the other convos online in hip hop are very surface and have no depth and you guys all lend your expertise and skill in the convo in a very impactful way. I appreciate the level of intimacy and vulnerability you guys all bring here and show that you are real people who are interacting with art and reflecting on how this art resonates beyond just spouting numbers and stats. This is not just about who is selling the most, art has real impact on people's lives and these artists are also real people. We lose track of that so regularly and just wind up debating silly commentary that is just noise. So thank you guys for cutting through the noise so regularly and offering something real.

I would just like to make a quick correction that in Beyoncé’s first halftime show, she was the sole headliner and her only guests were Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland for a little Destiny’s Child reunion. That was in 2013. She was invited to come back with Coldplay because she’s friends with Chris Martin.

When we talk about hip hop culture we're talking about black America culture. The problem is just like black American culture hip hop let's everyone in but gets to a point where we feel like those others are benefitting from us more than us. The reality is numbers and popularity don't come from black people/culture support alone. So wanting light on certain cultural representations comes at the cost of selling to people that don't value it the same.

I am so sick of people hating on Taylor Swift. Kenya made her big when he stole her moment to shine at the Grammys years ago. Because of that incident, she got on my radar. I like Taylor and I wouldn't be bothered at all if she appeared on stage with Kendrick. And, yes, I'm a black woman. I also like Taylor because she doesn't shy away from standing up for what she believes in and her support of black artists. As for the guy who said, "Why does she have to insert herself...", she hasn't inserted herself into anything. I also she is very generous with those who work for her. Stop hating!!!

There was no "official statement," from the NFL. A sports reporter spoke to anonymous sources, and said no. The NFL has not officially commented on this controversy. IMPORTANT: In order to communicate a meaningful message with lyrical excellence as top MCs do, it has to be packaged under a pop umbrella, otherwise, you are only entertaining those already interested in pure HipHop. To gain more share and push consumption of meaningful projects from singles to albums, you have to clickbait. If you don’t, the number of listens, popularity of a project are surface level metrics, and, it is contradictory to care about surface level metrics and at the same time care about a deep, meaningful, high quality art.

As far as JayZ goes, this is the same issue that happened with him being hired at Def Jam. The late DMX said it himself, “The inmates is running the asylum!” Like just because JayZ is an emcee, he can overlook sound business practice. And when it’s not free reign, then DMX is mad, Redman is mad, LL’s ego is hurt.. just because a fellow emcee is not just letting them release whatever they want without considering the bottomline.

Jay Z never created that expectation. He even spoke out and said that should not be expected. What people don’t realise is that all along the top billed artist people expected for next SB was Miley Cyrus or Taylor. Doja Cat was the only black person really being suggested. Lil Wayne wasn’t on anyone’s radar except rap fans. And another thing to remember is that majority of people at Super Bowl aren’t rap fans. People ignoring that Wayne doesn’t even have many tracks that are PG. I truly hate the narrative the community took when Wayne didn’t get it because historically Jay Z and Wayne may have been competitive but they had great respect for each other. Jay is still Wayne’s idol.
