Let’s focus less on hydropower and more on geothermal energy which is more efficient and reliable! Look at what happened in Zambia 🇿🇲 and Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 as a lesson! 😏

Geothermal now accounts for 40% as compared to Hydro's 30% of Kenya's energy mix and this is due to the investments made in Geo over the last 2 decades. Further investments in Geo in the pipeline will increase this ratio. We are now in a much better place in terms of reliance on rain (Hydro). Kenya is even planning Nuclear in the next decade but my opinion is that such resources should go to Geo.

Out of all the renewable energy sources like wind, solar, nuclear, hydro and geothermal, nothing compares to geothermal’s reliability, safety and efficiency! Nuclear is very dangerous if we lack the technical knowledge of handling it and the others like wind, solar and hydro are dependent on the weather! So geothermal is the clear winner here!

​@@our10picks18 Some of people like you are against growth.Hydro electric generation serve several purpose i.e prevention of floods downstream during heavy rains. Secondly, the water from the dams is used for irrigation and also treated for main water supply. On the other hand nuclear energy production is very reliable source and needs little fuel to produce a lot of power in a small area/space. I understand your concerns over safety, but how are you able to scale up power and supply to almost 60M people?

Do you know Kenya is Africa number 1 and World number 4 in geothermal power production? It's not like Kengen is joking around, but according to you should Kengen just abandon this older projects or should we maintain and modernize them? It's not like they have built a new hydroelectric project in close to 30yrs. It common sense, don't throw away what you already have.
