For the orange peel one, Smosh actually read out the whole story and that girl was like 100% getting taken advantage of by the guy. He was using her as a babysitter for his previous relationship (when she tried to break up with him, he brought the kid assuming that when it was over she would look after them so he could go hang out with the boys WITHOUT passing it by her first) and it wasn’t the trend that made them break up, it was small things over all long time where she realized their values just were not the same. She also was like 22 and he was in his 30 minimum so that’s another red flag

Someone failed to steal my Kia in the middle of the night. Fast forward 4 months after waiting for a few thousand dollars in repair parts, a group of pros drove up in a different stolen Kia to steal mine- middle of the day so fast I couldn't do anything except pull out my phone to call 911. Despite living 2 minutes from a police station they didn't catch them and my car was found a week later smashed into a fire hydrant, completely totaled with some Lexus trying to sue me because the thieves hit and run him. So yeah. I am VERY familiar with the "Kia Challenge" and how much it can utterly fuck up your life.

If I recall correctly, the Orange Peel Theory originates from a Tumblr post I believe the post goes something along the words of "I know how to peel an orange, my friend doesn't. I hope they never learn how to peel an orange" The origin is above reveling in the small acts you can do that another cannot, thus reinforcing that you serve a purpose to someone Which means the theory completely conflicts with the origin, because these women can 100% do it themselves

I remember I got so angry a few years ago when that 'devious lick' challenge was around. My nephew would come home and tell me about how so many bathroom supplies were missing 'because of a tiktok trend' and this was still around the time where covid was a very real threat. He laughed it off and I had to sit him down and explain why trends like these were absolutely not funny. What if someone passed on covid to a person with a bad immune system? What if someone got long covid because they couldn't wash their hands because all the soap and hand sanitizer was literally ripped off the walls? People could _die_ because of some trend! I'm thankful every day that my nephew has some common sense because he listened to me and took it seriously and started carrying the hand sanitizer I gave him. But just like 🤦god, I was so angry - hell, it still pisses me off thinking back on it. I still remember when I was in highschool and my best friend had Cystic Fibrosis (fluid builds up in your lungs and many people die young from it, it's a serious condition) and if this had happened when she was in school, it genuinely would have killed her! She would have died! All because some kids didn't think first and started doing something stupid just because other people were doing it. Like please, for the love of christ, I really just wish people would learn to think beyond the scope of themselves 😩 Anyways, I have so little faith in humanity at this point, honestly. If someone did that back when I was in school, I would have backhanded them so hard they hit concrete, and kept backhanding them every time they tried to get back up. My friend was so frail, so sick, they would be lucky to get out of that bathroom without tears in their eyes after I was finished with them 😮‍💨

I remember the ice cream challenge. When my mom would go to the store, she said that most of the ice cream either; A. had a plastic seal on it so you can tell if it was opened or unopened, or B. just straight up locked the fridge so that if you wanted ice cream you had to go get someone to unlock the door for you. Only some stores locked the fridge though, most of them just had ice cream with the plastic seals. I remember her coming home one time being all mad because she was trying to find ice cream that wasn't messed with, it was wild. EVEN THE PLASTIC SEALS DIDN'T STOP THEM! I remember the devious Licks trend going around in my school. notiably a couple of students stole the bathroom stall doors. This caused nearly all of our janitors to quit, causing those who were left to be overworked and underpaid for their work. They had to close down bathrooms around the school because of this challenge and the lack of needed janitors to clean the bathrooms. This in turn angered the many students not participating in the challenge and because our school is big; some of the guys peed on the boarded-up bathroom doors. Because if you gotta go, you gotta go.
