Vacuum all of a sudden wouldn't turn on today. Came across this video after a Google search. Opened up the handle area and the white wire had disconnected! Works perfect again. Thank you so much!

Man, that was such a simple solution. I went looking for a fuse. Had the whole beater head taken apart. After watching your video, I took the handle apart. Both wires were broken. So I stripped them both, reattached them, and added a small piece of electrical tape just to keep them from moving, then reassembled everything. Works like the day I bought it. Thanks for this video. It really helped. We now have two vacuum cleaners. 😅

Hey buddy, thank you for the tutorial. I have the same vacuum, and it's about 5-6 years old. I watched your video and I had the exact problem you showed on your video. It was even the same wire! You saved me $379.00! Thanks a bunch.

I'm late to the party. We love our Kenmore canister vacuums (2). I fixed a similar problem with wiring on the handle a few years ago. When I opened the handle I was surprised to see the wires in the hose were solid rather then stranded. We have also had problems with the plastic parts breaking on the wand of another unit. Luckily someone on eBay was parting out a unit so I was able to fix it by swapping out parts. Now that these units are getting old I keep an eye for folks getting rid of theirs so I now has a parts stash so hopefully am able to keep ours going for more years. Not sure if it still a problem but the first one we purchased years ago the contacts in the handle are susceptible to vibration and loosened over time and overheated.

Thank you so much for sharing....ALL 3 of my wires had come apart and two plastic clip pieces had broken...I pushed the wires back together...replaced the handle screws and am vacuuming again...just being careful with the hose and trying not to twist to much...you saved me a visit to the repair shop and $$ for now!!

I had the same issue with the same model vacuum. My white wire was broken. I stripped off some of the jacket with my cable stripper and popped it in and reassembled. I put a ziptie around the hose and the inside part of the handle to help provide relief when the vacuum is getting pulled around by the handle.

I ran into the same problem. You should check for low oil sensor. If not that then check for clutch pedal Freeplay. Or shifter linkage at safety neutral switch. Good luck!

What if when you put your volt meter into the little holes on the vacuum there is no power? My wife left the vacuum plugged in for a couple of days. When she came back to use it a couple days later, still plugged in it wouldn't work... nothing. Is there a fuse in there somewhere? It is a Kenmore 600 series, 2 years old. Thannks.

Please explain to my wife that bib overalls are necessary to retain the vast amount of maintenance information that you retain. She doesn’t think that I need maintenance bibs. PS also that the buttons on the side are not required to be fastened allowing for extra knowledge to be stored. She thinks that I would require a bigger pair of bibs than I’m currently forbidden to ware. PS this exact problem with out vacuum.
