This is how I have to remove the top lid on My older washing machine.

Found you because there's a dead mouse up inside the top. Tried to pull it out by the tail once I knew it was dead but only the tail came out in the pliers. So not good. I think it was looking for water and got stuck. Thank you so much for posting these instructions.

This vid was helpful but my washer is now like yours. The top doesn't just pop off. There are (were) 4 screws threaded up from the center holes on the top of the sides in each corner. It does not seem possible to repair from the top down. You have to disassemble from the bottom up unless you do what I and whoever took yours off by prying until the screws break off. Then you need another way of attaching the top like brackets on the sides.

This video does NOT apply to most whirlpool style washers. This is only how you remove your top lid because it has been modified by you or someone else. There are 2 clips (which are missing on yours) to remove once you flip the console over. Unplug the lid switch. Then the entire top, front, left/right side case comes off in one piece for service. Good job on cleaning your machine, most do not.

Yes, Exactly. I did mention in one of these videos how most washing machines lid are supposed to have 2 front push pins to secure it.

@@allanautollc3210 I have the cabinet pulled off of mine and I'm about to pull the pump apart to see if my memory foam bath mat is in there from three loads ago!! This Chix gotta do the fix! The dogs won't let the repairman NEAR the place!! 😂

Greetings. Was I suppose to pry the top off? 🤔 I was looking to see why the drum is shaking and do I need to replace suspension rods??

Hi, there are 2 pins in the front corners that you would have to lift or pry to get the lid housing off. If you have suspension rods or the 4 springs , I would replace those if the washer is shaking. Also the legs in the front should be adjusted to make the washer level. The older washers have a level unit connecting the 2 back legs with a spring. I greased my whenever I had to move the washer.

Thanks! What is the white plastic overhang piece no the back top with the black feed hose on the back? Mine is dripping.

On the back top will be the 2 water supply lines , hot and cold, but that small rubber hose hangs on a plastic piece as a holder behind/inside the control panel to the bottom of the tub inside the case. If it's dripping, replace that rubber hose. Careful not to kink or bend it or have it near anything that can cut it , secure it in the holders . If this helps

Thanks. It is dripping in the water feed plastic tray, so I think I need to replace the water feed valve. I see that some videos show that one can remove the lid, others that one has to remove the entire shell - I think mine is the later, the lid appears (?) to be screwed onto the body of the shell.
