Hi HandyChan! Omg I have the exact same vacuum and the exact same problem. I just tried your solution and it works. (So far so good. I take the power head off and on often. But it's an easy fix). Thank you!

Hi Steven, Glad to hear it help your issue, however I need to replace a thicker tin foil (cut from a tin pasta tray) for better contact few months later. Who cares… it just a free and easy fix. Cheers.

FYI for those with a similar Kenmore vacuum… this method is great unless there is intermittent power supply from the agitator on/off switch. Good to know that the wires that supply power are not soldered in the handle but simply press fitted. The blue and white wires can unplug from their connection in the handle because of the design. The top cover pops off and 4 screws can be removed. Ensure that there is enough wire to plug back into their connection fitting and to secure, use strong electric tape around the base of the handle, hose, and wire fittings so the wires don’t pull out of their connection. Reattach the handle and you’ll have that problem fixed.

I think my intermittent power might be the pins in the connector between the hose and the cannister (or possibly the swivel part, though things looked okay when I had it apart while replacing the plastic coupler, tbd), but I will be keeping this solution in mind (and checking the other connections like this one) as well.
@handychan31988 ай бұрын
Yes, just check all the connector like this, if one of them not work well will create intermittent power.

Do you like the Kenmore do they make that model anymore
@handychan31982 жыл бұрын
This Kenmore works much better than my other Dyson in carpet cleaning but I prefer to use Dyson to clean the hard wood floor… so it depends on what kind of flooring you dealing with. Yes, I can find one in Homedepot. www.homedepot.com/p/KENMORE-Pet-Friendly-Pop-N-Go-Bagged-Canister-Vacuum-Cleaner-BC4026/308593689

I have a similar vacuum. I love it but the agitator has hair wrapped around it and it is making a weird loud clicking sound because I think I accidentally got something caught in the part that contains the agitator (not the canister part.) What do I need to do to fix this?
@handychan31982 жыл бұрын
I think you better remove the wrapped around hair first and see if you have any chance to get the little stuff out from the power head. Good luck kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6balmaMhtKEmLM

Can I put a multimeter on the two prongs before the powerhead to see if my switch is acting up it has suction on setting one but not turning on the powerhead this may help but I’d like to just test and see if it’s getting power down to the end of the tube

Hi Goose, My in-law got one kenmore progressive ( Burgundy Color)) too which was an more older model. Both model are more or less the same, and both still working well. Even it is not the trendy style like Dyson, but it works better in cleaning carpets. What do you think? Handy Chan

I tried this with the aluminum foil, Had the problem of intermittent power to the PowerMate. When placing the foil on the pinheads and reconnecting to the PowerMate...no power at all and suspect the heads got burnt out. Did a voltage meter check and got power from the handle, but no power detected from the wand to Powerhead connection. There is another You Tube video that shows how to replace the pin connections. Or just buy a new wand with the cheapest found on EBAY for about $109.00
@handychan31983 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the video didn't help, maybe you got another issue. Let me know if the new wand fix.
@melissanotthewebsbusiness7272 Жыл бұрын
Do you have the link to video? This fix didn't work, looking with a flashlight it looks like maybe one of the female connection pins is damaged, tried another allegedly-working Powermate head and no power to it, either. Going to search for another wand if I can't disassemble/repair female connectors: Need some sort of meter to gauge power.

Okay, once I can get my power head going, it's good. But it takes a couple of minutes before it gets going. Any ideas on what's going on with that?
@handychan31983 жыл бұрын
I guess it’s all about poor contact, you can use a piece of metal sandpaper to remove all black residual on both male and female power connectors first, than cut a piece thicker tin foil from like Costco pasta tray to get a better contact. Hope it may help, good luck.

I think the power head connector issue is this kind of vacuum cleaner design problem even I bring it to the professional repair shop to replace a new connector years ago ( cost me over $100). It just last about 2 years, and I try this trick for many years. I still need to do it again for 1 year or 2, this trick wont last forever. Sorry to hear it is not working in your case.
