Great video Eric. Here's a tip a used; cut small pieces of cardboard aprox. 1/2" x 1-1/2", from a notebook cover. Used butter knife to lift fab and slid cardboard. between all locking tabs and the inner door. The door comes off with very little resistance. I re-installed the door with the inner door shut. I aligned the door and got the hinge side started and snapped the top and bottom in using my rt. arm with even pressure. Hope this is helpful. Thanks Eric for getting me started.

This video was a great help to us. Our Whirlpool Gold microwave is almost exactly the same. Only difference we see is that ours has an additional three screws on the top to remove the top grill. To insert the glass in the door cover, I flexed the plastic from the underside with my thumb. This moved the clip back and the glass dropped right in. We used kitchen caulk instead of the hot glue you mentioned. Thanks for a great visual aid on fixing the door!

Thanks for taking time to post this clip. I was able to change mine easily after viewing your video. God Bless!

Hi Tom, Yes, that part is difficult. In my case, that first piece was already broken, that's why I was doing the replacement, so I just went with brute force since I wasn't worried. But see the great tip below from 08maxout about slipping thin cardboard under each clip as you lift them one by one. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the video - I'm having trouble getting the first piece off the door. It's the inside cover and theoretically can be pried out. I've tried a putty knife, but the piece is in there very tight - any suggestions other than brute force? Thanks

Thanks for the video and especially to 08maxout for the tips about using cardboard pieces to hold the clips open so that the cover would come off easily. Unfortunately, the plastic from the front cover is getting brittle and a small piece broke off. I am going to try the UV glue to repair it.

Hi great video..the top grill came off my microwave. Is it okay to super glue it? Will I ever need to open it again?

***** It's definitely worth considering whether it would be cheaper to get a new microwave. But I was able to order the parts for $87.70 including tax and shipping, and do the repair myself. Cheapest over-range microwave I find with a quick search is $188.99 without tax, shipping, or installation. And it means one less microwave in a landfill, which I like too.

I have a Kenmore microwave built in September of 2004. It has never given me a single problem. Now here we are 13+ years later and the top air grille cracked and broke. On Sears Direct it is $87.00. I can buy a new microwave for another 100-110 dollars. It’s a tough decision. If I buy this new grille and it craps out I just wasted money, but if I buy a new one, will it be good and last? I feel like it’s a shame to ditch this one while it still works perfectly. Any suggestions?

Personally, I wouldn't super glue it in case you ever want to take it off. But the only reason I know of to take it off is to do a door repair like this. If you know you would replace it entirely rather than repairing, then I guess you could super glue. But you could also try something less strong, like Elmer's glue or some putty of some kind.

Thanks, and great tip with the cardboard!

You tell how to change out the door frame, etc, but it would have been much better to SEE you actually doing the repair.
