I really could have used some of your knowledge back then. I struggled getting the front cover off. I also did not unplug the connector at the top hinge. I just unplugged it when I was in there. 🤫 About 5-6 years ago I worked on my Mom's ice dispenser. Her complaint was that it was really hard to push before the ice started coming out. Turns out the cam lobes on the white square frame were indeed worn so bad that it barely depressed the switch. I was able to use some epoxy and basically retool the cam lobes and pins back to normal sanding them into shape once dried. Then greased it with silicone grease and so far it's holding up great. Well today it's the chute door as I'm tired of my ice tasting like crap. I'm going to try and remove the heater off the old door without destroying it and stick in on the new door. 🙏Even though they say it doesn't need it I'm wondering if the heater is more for a stuck piece of ice rather than some how being used to seal the door or defrost cycle. I think it senses the open door and turns on the heater on demand to melt any ice that may be stuck. Especially if you're using a lot of shredded ice. Any thoughts on that?

I was able to remove the heater from the OEM door and install it on the replacement. Pretty easy but you need to take your time and not destroy the foam.

Thank you. You video was clear and easy to follow. I am 70+ years old. Sears gave me a $300+ quote. I was able to successfully make the repair. It did take me about 3 hours to complete but no more issues with the ice chute.

good idea about unplugging the connector at the hinge rather than unplugging the refrigerator. Frig can keep working while doing the repair. Also, I'd have to pull it away from the wall to unplug it.

@@LonnieJohnson1 The ice chute door flap. But I did figure it all out with the help of your video. There is a piece on the door that holds the pin which is broke off. Duct tape works wonders and gorilla glue.

@@Mscherisis I'm experiencing the same problem. I can see the door "floating" around looking through the chute assembly from inside the freezer. It does not allow ice to come out of the chute. I'm wondering if the flap door tab clip(s) are broken off. If they are, I think I will look for the new part rather than duct tape it. The door flap seems to have been replaced already. It is late in the evening; I will disassemble and find out tomorrow.

My Mother and I watched your video, and we were just wondering why the replacement part doesn't need the heater wire? Is the one on the replacement part internal or something?

It doesn't need the heater. I haven't had any problem so for. I don't know why it had a heater in the first place. I think the material on the chute is made of a different type that doesn't freeze or stick.

I was confused also. The old door had an electrical connection and the new door did not. It is still working great.

@@LonnieJohnson1 Ended up here with a similar thing...I've done this replacement on a couple fridges some have the wire (heater?) some don't. No idea why...maybe they thought it was needed and realized its not?
