ATC was wrong and dangerous.It’s clear the Pilots English is poor. Help them, don’t be mean. Lots of unnecessary talk that clearly the pilot couldn’t understand anyway.

unprofessional ATC.. he needs to know that not everyone in the world speaks perfect English.. this is why there is a STANDARD AVIATION LANGUAGE.... turn right then turn left 22R... turn right where? i am surprised that there isn't any incident yet.

To be fair the controller wasn't being that clear with the instructions. You can't "umm" and "err" when dealing with aircraft movements.

OK, for people below who are obviously ignorant in terms of aviation - ENGLISH is an official language of commercial aviation. EVERY pilot on international routes is REQUIRED to have a working command of ENGLISH language. If such pilot cannot converse in ENGLISH they are not qualified to fly international routes. ATC had an ABSOLUTE right to be pissed off at the pilots who could not understand the simplest of commands. It's the pilots who were completely unprofessional, not the ATC. End of story.

communications is more than language.....the best thing about no longer living near New York City is the civility.....rare are people with patience in NYC....NY rude is a language unto itself....the controller was condescending and curt...try a little kindness....Peace and Out

Nooooo angry and rude behaviour causes emotional response. It will literally make any well trained person behave poorly. This ATC person is just obnoxious. Only happens in NYC, busy doesnt mean you need to act like you dont have time for people.

Also, NYC controllers designed their systems such that they have a Ramp and a Ground controller but they are not co-working or collaborating and requiring pilots to change freq during taxi which is clearly just a poor design, more handoff more confusion, more traffic jams when it goes wrong. Rude new york ATC aren't better than a non native English speaker simply because they are loud and rude.

@@liamp1994 You are missing the point. Pilots who cannot communicate in English, like this one clearly could not, should not be allowed to fly international routes. They endanger themselves and thousands of people, and it doesn't matter if traffic controllers in arguably one of the busiest airports in the World are polite or not. Yes, ATC should have some measure of professional courtesy, but you cannot fault them for being exasperated by international pilots who do not speak English.
