@@Hrdfrmhvns333 xD I guess I might have written it poorly. What I'm saying is, Sting does an amazing performance but Bruce receives standing ovation for it. That was the bottom line I guess. I'm struck by the way Sting sings this song, often with his eyes downward in a way that feels humble and reflective as befitting the nature of the song. He is in service to the song rather than the song being in service to him. It suits him very well. A beautiful tribute to Bruce and to the firefighters.

A beautiful masterpiece about the very worst day. Only Bruce could create an album arc that drives deep the pain, the horror, that unequalled test of us all to watch and witness. And, in doing that, he found the rebirth that often accompanies such loss. Sting did great, here.

Three things get me about this performance, Stings enthusiasm for it and how he conveys the message, the humbleness of Bruce Springsteen who when being honoured accepts it like the men he portrays in his music and lastly the class of Barack and Michelle Obama, could anyone see Trump in an situation like this not making it about himself, in any situation for that matter. Just a great video to watch.

@John Pouw Well I have seen President Trump during the September 11th remembrance service last year and both he and Melania were very classy, graceful and respectful. Besides thanking First Responders for their *heroic* actions, Trump ended up praising Americans in general who rose up to the occasion, donated blood, food and clothes and went searching for the missing etc. Not to forget thanking and Blessing our troops for their actions against Terrorism since. So you *know* it is not all black-and-white.

When I was child my dad would often play this song and the 10 year old version of myself couldn't understand the words (I'm German) but feel the deep truth and beauty of this song. Now that I am able to fathom what the lyrics say I'm still amazed and touched every single time I listen to "The Rising"!

I just see so much love here. It makes me think back to my years in the US, when I was really little. Back then, this notion op hope really still was around. I lived near where Bruce Springsteen lived. Never got the chance to hear him sing live. But I did go through 9/11, and this song later was really therapeutic to get through it. And yeah, ofc the Obamas are a power couple. Michele would be a perfect first female president. Not because she would have a famous husband. No, because she can connect with any person around. If I would have one ounce of that power, I would be so great-full. Tough times are ahead, no doubt. But we shall overcome. We shall overcome. We shall overcome.

I just can't imagine how it must feel with someone else singing one of your songs. And all of those powerful people looking at you. And they are all on their feet applauding you. And the president of the United States sitting right next to you. SEEING THIS YO BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN YOU GAVE US ALL SO MUCH OF YOURSELF. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE GIVEN US AND EVERYTHING YOU ARE GOING TO GIVE US. YOUR MUSIC WILL LIVE FOREVER I PRAY THAT YOU COULD ALWAYS BE HERE FOR A WORLD THAT TRULY DOES LOVE YOU BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN. THE BOSS
