Oh, THAT'S who he saw on stage. I have wondered about that since I first saw this video. I confess to not having followed that musical, even though I like musicals. I saw one of the songs on Letterman, I think, around the time that Sting was appearing in the show to try to get an audience. Thanks for the clarification. That explains the emotion, since putting a musical together is a ton of work, involving a ton of people. Successful or not, I know those people are special to him.
