There's actually a reason you can't show the cctv footage to just anyone. You as the person allowing it can get in trouble, as most hotels have a secrecy policy and you really don't know if the person is looking for someone trying to hide from them. And in a lot of cases, the person at the front desk doesn't have the authority to look at the footage (only security and management can) and very rarely is the ability to view the footage in the main building. But. I feel the person at the desk should have called the manager to get permission or offered to call 911 for them so that the footage can be looked at.

@@critical-goat None of you have even the slightest clue what actually went down lol! These Hotels make money off organ harvesting and sex trafficking plain and simple! Not at every hotel because at the hotel I used to work at no matter what the day is, they really didn't care. One time this lady lost over $30,000 in jewelry very clearly in the hotel lobby. Right infront of all the cameras, I called both of my managers and they said "oh well she will have to wait until Monday" so not in every case they will provide footage asap.

So now I feel like the “friends” and those three guys had something going on. She was drinking and smoking, but to me she looks drugged by someone. But that fucking 911 call pisses me off because this is a teenager and I’m just confused but where I’m from, cops would’ve been sent to look through that hotel for a girl that might be in trouble under suspicious circumstances!! I mean, wtf? That asshole needs firing because to me he helped put the poor girl in the ground seeing as if he sent the cops to give a look they probably would’ve found her!! SO wrong, sad.

I was making scratching & hitting against the doors 🚪 noises for someone to hear me so I could get out, & no one heard me at 1st but there was a way I could still hear from the inside of the freezer 🥶 & "(JUST SO HAPPEN)" a co-worker at the time of the job, just happened to have to come the freezer to get some food ingredients that he needed for the grill & he ended up letting me out of the freezer!!!!! 🥶 That was a close call but NEVER EVER AGAIN!!! 🚫🚫 Too much of a panic-risk. And the inside of the freezer door 🚪 at one of my old jobs didn't have a release button on the inside of the door, you can ONLY access & open the door from the outside of the freezer. And I forever ♾️ kept hitting at the door & couldn't get the door open for anything. Even with small baby hands, it's so much bamming against a (heavy steel door) that you can do. 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

I also believe it was a very tragic accident. I can see how the outcome would have been different if several factors were individually just slightly different. It doesn't do much good to think like that, I know, but my mind just seems to go there. I especially struggle with the hotel staff not allowing the footage to be seen and the 911 operator discouraging her mother from pursuing a missing persons report. When the mother said that something just doesn't seem right, my heart breaks. That was the moment to change gears but it didn't happen. So sad.

Parents- please talk to your teens and make sure they know to call you if they’re in a bad situation and that you will come get them without any repercussions whatsoever!!!! My daughter went to an after prom party at a hotel in 2017. Her friends got wayyyy too drunk and were acting crazy. She felt uncomfortable and called us at 2:00 am to come get her and help her friends who were all too scared that they’d get in trouble to call their parents. My husband drove out there and got everything under control and then took all the girls back to our house to sober up and sleep it off. We never ratted them out to the other parents, nobody got into any trouble at all, and everyone was safe. I’m so grateful and proud of my daughter that she knew she could count on us to get her and her friends out of a bad situation! Lord knows what could’ve happened to them if she didn’t have that kind of confidence in us. Parents, PLEASE establish this rule with your kids!!! Sure, we all wish our kids won’t do that stuff in the first place, but reality is that they will and all we can hope for is that they’ll trust us enough to call us for help when things get to be dangerous.

@@Rhythm1293 I know. But when you're 19, you're still essentially a teenager who isn't exactly planning safety. You're a new adult soaking up the freedom you have and that can turn into a bad ending fast. My 1st legal St. Patrick's Day, I went out with a huge group of girls to go party at the bar. Buddy system in place til 2 or 3 people had to pee and everyone else was gone I kept asking around, casually about a large group of of girls in green. Not exactly helpful but I tried and was sure they would all appear later. Meanwhile, cute guy offered me a drink, we chit chatted over really loud music and I told him about my friends and was texting them throughout a couple of drinks - t he minute I stood up, i knew I had been drugged. Long story short, I kept telling I was to tell wasted people "Help, I'm not drunk" who laughed. I remember him saying "I know where your friends went, it's a party where drinks are free for ladies" - made sense in my mind at the time. Ended up in a hotel suite that was empty besides myself and him when we walked in. A lot of the moments from there on out were black. Til the door was knocked down by police. Something was said about vomiting and I had vomit on my dress. And needed to go to the hospital. Went by medic who were asking 50 million questions. I just remember getting to the hospital and having an IV started, blood drawn and peeing in a pan. What happened was I had gone out to the small porch area (like a balcony) off the suite and was puking. I puked on a girl by accident but she was a good Samaritan and called 911. After I was done puking, several witnesses saw him punch me in the face so hard I fell over a lawn chair he picked me up by my hair and while leaning over the banister was picking my dress up and groping me. I had a kit which didn't show any penetration but he sexually assaulted and assaulted me bad...my nose was broke, he knocked out 11 teeth (and one was a damn wisdom tooth). I had swallowed a few others were on the porch or room. My breasts were beat, I had teethmarks that were deep and bleeding through my bra. Neck injury in a brace for 2 weeks then physical therapy. I couldn't sit comfortably for about a week because of how badly he beat me there and all over my back...you get the jist. And my blood alcohol was barely over thr legal limit so I wasnt drunk. GHB and xanax that I never took on my own was found. Which caused temporary heart/blood pressure and nervous system problems til it was out. Soon as I was clean from all that, into facial surgery. Another friend was fighting a guy off and broke several fingers and his wrist so he would stop. Another friend was taken to the hospital for her shin being broken when somebody accidentally shut the taxi door before she was totally in. Hell of a night. Phones, wallets, shoes (somehow) were stolen and never seen again. But now, several years older and wiser, we all know better. If someone is gonna drink outside of the home, someone needs to be sober. We'll still have a girls night here and there with dinner and wine but either sleepover or only have a glass with our food, later on a snack while binge watching Netflix or play a card game. Which gives us hours to sober up before driving and we all message each other when we're home safely. But yougins don't know that. Hear it but don't care as much as someone who's a little older and has heard and cares about the news or has personal experience. A lot of Kennekas case makes me think of Natalee Holloway....point of this novel, DO NOT LEAVE YOUR FRIENDS!!!

Your mom was right. I spend a lot of time reading cases on the Charley Project. Most of the cases on white children seem to have information showing the police investigated at least a little, though not enough unless they’re also rich. Nearly all the black children and young adults(basically anyone but the beloved grandma who cooks for everyone on the block) don’t even seem to have been investigated at all. It’s infuriating to think about how many of these lives could have been saved if authorities had done the bare minimum of their duties.

My theory has been that maybe she thought when she felt the cold air coming from the freezer (cause like you said it makes you confused and she was super drunk) that it was a door leading outside and then once she realized it was pitch black, and it wasn't outside, she couldn't find the button to let herself out and/or possibly she wasn't strong enough, (cause some of them are extremely hard to get open- I had trouble getting one open before at my old job and had to climb through the display shelf and push open the glass door and yell out to my coworker that I am locked in the freezer!) 😞 It's truly such a sad, horrifying, tragic, helpless way to die 😭😭😭

What should come from this tragedy: Kenneka's Laws 1) Federal law that walk in freezers are required to have electric/LED lighted release buttons that are well lit and visible under all circumstances if anyone should find themselves trapped. I would also add a requirement for a red LED lighted emergency buzzer (as found in elevators) located next to the release button for instances where the release button has become non-functioning. 2) Federal law that allows management of any establishment to immediately review live and pre-recorded video when it involves the health and welfare of another human being. I find it likely and disturbing that if the missing person had been under 12 years of age, those videos would've been reviewed quickly and effectively. Unfortunately for Kenneka, she was just too old to be taken seriously. My take-away is that the hotel is responsible for not taking necessary precautions to insure that no one entered that area. Signs were not enough. What if people wandered in who did not speak English - or children who were too young to read? The sad part is that there were SO MANY people that could have assisted Kenneka's mother during this event, but no one did. No one was responsible enough to be effective. Even the dispatcher is putting off the mother's worry. Everyone telling Kenneka's mother that it just isn't really worth their time to find her daughter. It's so sad you can barely believe it's true.

@Tiffiney Gordon Faulkner I agree that something sketchy as fuck happened to KJ, but harvesting organs couldn't have been it. Organs need to be taken from a living person and definitely cannot be frozen when retrieved. It’s so much evidence but they already ruled it automatically accidental how if they didn’t check the crime scene her pants down her sneakers one in one off . This girl was drugged n set up ! And that same time Selena Gomez magically got her organs she needed definitely not from a recovering addict that say gave them to her lol n her step dad was the first cop on scene yea ok he made sure he got the body for his step daughter organs

Why is it so hard to check video cameras. There shouldn’t be some sort of gatekeeper situation to those video cameras. If all employees were able to just rewind and look at what was recorded, and not make it a big thing, I bet a lot more people could be found faster. That problem should be fixed ASAP.

I agree with you, about the negligence of the operator - but, like Stephanie said, the hypothermia had probably killed her within 60 to 90 minutes; before her mother even got to the hotel. It's so sad what happened to her, but there need to be standards by which the emergency workers/operators have to abide. This reminds me of the Powell case, where the operator does not listen properly, and dismisses what the caller is telling him, and tells her that the police need to attend to "real emergencies." And yea the hotel staff were also very negligent, allowing that party to go unchecked.

I think your daughter's response is perfect. A hotel hallway would seem way safer to me if I were drunk than a party with other drunk guys. The hotel staff though totally dropped the ball imo. I don't understand why they just wouldn't let the mom see the footage. Ladylocs Asia doesn’t mean anything, I am very private about my health, as is my mother - we never knew what either of us was taking, except for those times when she had to accompany me to the doctor’s clinic because I was too young. This girl is 19, it is quite possible she was on medication that her mother had no clue about. Besides the toxicology report of some drugs in the autopsy can definitely show if it was a single oral dose (spiked) or if it had been part of a continuous use (for a medical condition). Lots of people, on the other hand, do drink while on medication - even when they shouldn’t. It’s a very real problem.
