Nowadays most whites kids in London speak English with a hybrid Jamaican dialect which is very different from the anglo saxon dialect of English which was spoken by Kenneth Williams. In the early 2000's, young white kids on council estates in London became JAMAICANISED. This is when they starting speaking with English with a hybrid Jamaican dialect. For example, Essex county is the only place in Britain where the cockney dialect/and or accent is still spoken.

I love Ken and his wonderful anecdotes and gift for different voices. I could listen to him for hours. My late uncle knew him professionally and met him in Oxford Street the day before he died. He said that Ken was soon to have an operation and was terrified. He was quite ill by then and the prospect of it must have been the cause of his death by an overdose. He could not stand anyone touching him, and it was the imminent invasion of his body that caused him to take his own life. He was in pain as well. My uncle also knew Tony Hancock who also took his own life. Two wonderfully funny men who died before their time and two of my comedy heros. I still feel so sad that they made millions laugh but had unhappy private lives.

Kenneth Williams was a very sad and troubled person in his private life, he had an obsession for cleanliness , and wouldn't even let visiting guests to his house use his toilet because of a germ worries and this led to him feeling isolated from society because of his insecurities. He also found it hard to accept his sexuality , he loathed the fact he was gay, and struggled all his life to fit in and just get on with his life. He's rightly regarded as a CarryOn legend, but he didn't particularly like doing them, and thought he wasn't realizing or fulfilling his acting potential but found other work tough to find and became stereo typed .So in his words he bled himself to appear in many ; "Tits and Bum Slapsticks " ( carry-ons). A troubled genius, and totally one off character, but a lonely man , who lived a mostly unhappy depressive life, and a very sad end for a very funny man. K.Williams (rip).

Very well said Chris, I think if he was born in this era he would have been a lot happier as sexuality has grown up and would have been more acceptable and would have recognised his talent rather than his sexuality..it's a shame as I think all he wanted was a partner he could settle down with instead of being so lonely and having to be looking over his shoulder all the time. Loneliness is a horrible depressive feeling ,, every day you feel lower and lower till you each rock bottom and you know at night you really don't want to wake up the next day knowing you have to go through it all again, I think that's why he gave in and couldn't take any more..A real shame for a very underrated talented man
@junegiovanni64755 жыл бұрын
It's kind of hard to love yourself at time when everyone was so hateful and homophobic...they looked at us with stereotypes and we would end up portraying creepy villians or die in movies or mocked and ridiculed, always playing the girls overly flamboyant sidekick, no love interest or always that lonely gay in the movie that never gets in action...Society was very closed minded and narrow minded and hateful towards gay people, so how can he accept who he is when society tells you that you are a pervert and wrong for being gay at the time, he used his flamboyant humor to make people laugh because thats what straight people thought about all of us at the time. He used humor to hide the pain. Theres was no hope for any gay person at that time, it was a dark period. I'M sure if he was alive now he would embrace who he is and finally accept his sexuality. Back than you felt alone...plus he had a horrible father who mistreated him and was extremely homophobic and they had a very bad relationship and he didn't even go and visit his father when he was dying in the hospital. He did have some gay encounters and had his feel of gay sexual hook ups but he never wanted to be in a relationship and wanted to live alone. But he wasn't a complete prune, he had his feel of sexual encounters but he was a private man and couldn't possibly disclose his sexuality at that time, his career can be finished and he can be blackballed....He was born in the wrong time and era, he would have been more complete in todays society. I'm gay I know his pain but I can't imagine his pain back then when every law was again't you, if you were gay and people mocked you. So I don't think he hated being gay, he was alone, in a world full of hate towards gays and had to put on a fake facade to mask the pain and tell people who he really is. Suppressing his sexuality was the real pain but every gay person doesn't want to be gay when people around them are not understanding and closed minded. In fear of rejection and losing loved ones.

@@cryptohunt2552 I guess his reported height might be what the Americans call the 'Hollywood 5'8' where short actors claimed that height to pass casting calls.

I once saw kenny in a pub in London (the Slug & Lettuce near his home on Coliseum Terrace) and asked him for an autograph. he looked up, sneered slightly & said "fuck off". Brilliant.

I saw him in Edgware Road once in the late 70s. My friend was egging me on to go and say hello. I chickened out. Later, I heard that he hated people approaching him in the street, so I was glad I dodged that bullet, but having read your post, I'd love to be able to say that Kenneth Williams sneered a 'fuck off' at me. LOL

What an unpleasant shock when this ended so abruptly. But I just see on the right there is part 2. Excellent!
