I'm also Bi and he's.... I'll admit he's not unattractive, but he seems really 'meh' to me; in these Romcom / Romance movies, the male leads all start to look the same, especially in the haircut department. It's weird when you see that the lead lady is gorgeous, and the movie tries to convince you that she is destined to be with generic main white man number 72. I'd argue that passionflix and pureflix are very hecking guilty in the "male leads all look the same" department.

I'm straight and Ben Affleck is about as attractive as a bowl of plain oatmeal. There's also just something about him (both in real life and in movies) that I can't pinpoint or describe, but he makes me feel like he's a douchebag idiot who pretends to be sensitive to try to get women. As a lez, I despised the fact that this was the second film in which Ben Affleck "turned" a lesbian. Not to dismiss bisexuals but that wasn't even a key aspect in this or Chasing Amy. It was "oh, you like women? You just haven't found the right d!ck and Ben's is magically special". @Day They did not, she is only ever explained as a woman who likes women and who seems quite disgusted and put off by men, but who somehow ends up sleeping with Ben Affliction bc his peepee is just super special. I just want everyone to know that someone was paid to write this. Paid a lot of money, given a lot of resources, to write a movie with Jennifer Lopez, and they wrote this. Sure, studio interference and all that, but is there even anything in here reminiscent of a once decent plot? As a writer seeing videos like this always make me feel good because it ju sets reassures me that no matter what I write, no matter how insecure you may feel about your prose, characters, or originality. You cannot fail. You have won just by trying. You could create the most debased, vulgar, bland, coma-inducing series of words put to paper, so revolting that the government is sent to your residence to steal all remnants of the work and burn it in front of you, only to then burn the ashes and hold your eyes over the smoke as a final punishment as you slowly douse the flame with your polluted tears, and that failure would still be greater and more successful than the entire existence of this movie. You cannot fail. If you can manage to sit down and write a work, no matter how long it takes, from start to finish, and do it (mostly) sober and with both hands, you will have put more effort than everyone who oversaw this monstrosity did and, no matter the outcome, will have succeeded. Go do it.

This movie ONLY thought it was good due to the level of arrogance that Jlo was existing at back then. She took it very badly when people didn't like it, and she turned it into a huge drama about her relationship, which caused all kinds of issues for her and ben (mainly because he runs to a bottle at the first sign of adversity, expects the woman in his life to take full responsibility for his happiness, and tends to pout in self-pity whenever she's unhappy). This movie was 100% an ego project for jlo, and she was STUNNED when it didn't receive all of the accolades that she was expecting 😂

Have you heard of chasing Amy by Kevin smith? It’a another movie where Ben Affleck falls in love with a lesbian. Actually, funny fact, one of my first boyfriends stole a monologue from that movie to get me to go out with him. When I saw the movie I recited the damn thing word for word 😂

Omg. I’m older than the bible and I remember when this movie came out. It wasnt heavily advertised via commercials or anything like a lot of other movies were - it was relying exclusively on the massive “Bennifer” hype at the time. So nobody knew wtf it was about but everyone heard about how absolutely awful it was. Thank you for being the Indiana Jones of bad movies and taking an adventure nobody else wanted to.
@DrGregoryHouseIT2 жыл бұрын
This movie is called Amore Estremo (Extreme Love) in Italy as the original title is the italian word for Lilies. Trivia: in the pilot for Jennifer Lopez's NBC show Shades Of Blue, her character calls lilies an abomination, which might be a dig on this movie.

As a lesbian I'm utterly disgusted. I didn't realize the full premise of this movie. Heard about this movie when it came out and wasn't keen on seeing it. I thought the gay aspect of it was that Ben's character thought Jen's was a lesbian. She's not and 'hilarity' ensues they fall in love. To know she was an actual lesbian... smh just upset my spirit. Ben and Jen just contributing to harmful stereotypes of lesbians, just wow They deserve each other.

I HATED growing up in the early 2000’s. Trying to explain to other 12yo’s calling everything gay is low key bigotry, and having them dunk on me for it. Having my black body type be the least desirable, having my black features constantly ridiculed or conformed to whiteness. Then 2010, and it’s like a magic wand of sanity! I’m not saying it didn’t have problems, but it was like everyone got on board with inclusion.

I resent that this movie is just a toxic waste dump for the writer's radioactive bad takes, because there's the skeleton of a passable rom com in the overall plot. Hear me out- Rival mobsters working for the same family are forced to work together on a kidnapping gig. The catch? Their mark is a kid, and they have to play a convincing "aunt and uncle" so the kid doesn't get wise to the plot and try to bolt. Shenanigans ensue. Also just drop the badly handled lesbian subplot altogether or just make her bisexual oh my god.
@AkiraTanaka11 Жыл бұрын
No, don't make her bisexual. Because the main guy would still be a fetishizing creep about her being bisexual. Honestly, even if she was straight, he would do these misogynistic ramblings either way about her ''not wanting him'', so it's a lose-lose-lose situation.

Kennie's reaction to a movie so bad it makes her excited is kinda how i feel when I see a video where she's already got her makeup on. There's a chance there's so much nonsense in this movie she just had to concentrate on talking only and i love that

Oh NO. I watched this during a bad movie night years ago, and while I did remember the yoga monologue (and JLo breathily calling male genitalia a sea slug, I believe?), I had actually blocked out the memory of Affleck’s face during the sex scene.
