I’ve heard this song many times, but today I truly listened to the words, and this is why... Today a good friend of ours came over, she just lost her son to suicide less than a week ago. He was a great young man of only 24 years old, but he suffered with the demons that were too much to bear. Today, talking with her, I learned of his final days...and here is why this song hit me so hard. She told us that a month ago he went alone to take a skydiving trip, very spontaneous and he didn’t tell anyone he was doing it. (Hence the part in this song about “Knowin' you was a free fall from a hundred thousand feet”)...as I heard this song, which played literally two minutes after I left my house and hearing that he had did this...it hit me like a ton of bricks. I truly believe it was a sign from him. Our friends son, took his own life when he woke up last Sunday, drove to a bridge and jumped over the side! I think he took the skydiving trip just to see what the free fall was going to feel like. I know he “got his wings” and is watching over his family now...but, for everyone that knew him...it was good, “knowing you” buddy. God Speed, no more pain...fly free.

Bless you...we aren't supposed to lose our siblings until we are all very old. Our lives may take different directions, but we started out in the same boat, and that is the bond that is stronger than any friendship. It stays with us forever. When I first heard this song, I got them to play it at my sister Maria ( Matta) Theresa Gagliardi, Funeral. My sister was KILLED in a hit and run on May 27, 2021. While she was walking to work at Aurora's in the morning. The lyrics in this song is like it was written especially for my sister. I miss Matta very much.
