I didn't even know what Jazz was at this time. Was a teenager, and actually, I had been hearing little bits of jazz elements in music for years, but didn't really know it as such. I don't even think I had heard the word back then. Then one evening listening to the radio in 1993 that all changed. A friend of mine was a jazz lover and, while we did some electrical work inside a small store, this amazing music came on the radio that had me totally mesmerized. I became an instant addict. The channel was called Jazz FM and I was blown away by what they were playing at that particular time of day. It was a lot of trio ballads, and some solo stuff. Totally blew my mind. So glad for that happy accident.

I was THERE! I worked as a production assistant at this Charlie Fishman concert, which was a benefit for the Thelonious Monk of Jazz. I have no idea how mind-blowing to here them this LIVE!!! An incredible evening of jazz, that left an enduring imprint on me for the rest of my life!

Thank you Josha for uploading this. I had great opportunities listening to Ellis and Kenny live separately, but this is only video that they played together. I miss both of them.

In his wonderful blog Do the M@th," pianist and educator Ethan Iverson turned me on to this performance. I own him a drink next time I get a chance to hear him. Or a fifth of a VERY nice single malt.
