RARE Branford Marsalis Quartet Live w Kenny Kirkland 1989

Taken from a collection of concerts the BMQ did at Live At the Village Vanguard in 1989. Which were apparently recorded to be released at some point but never did.
I have no idea why these albums were never released but I'm glad I have the music the listen to. This is truly the BMQ swingin' on four cylinders. This is just a very small sample of the music on the CD's

This is awesome! That picture was taken at the Monterrey Jazz Fest. I was playing with Betty Carter during that time and B.O.B Hurst used my bass. I think Brian Blade and myself went to see this same group at the Vanguard in 1991...Super Jammin'! Actually, it could have been just trio, but I love me some Kenny Kirkland! - Chris Thomas

Kenny is insane as usual at these tempos, the ideas transcend stupid theory at this point, it's like recursive composition, compositions within a composition.... Wish there was a full recording of this....
