My dad went to elementary school with Kenny Rogers. My dad was a year older, but he flunked kindergarten and had to repeat it. Kind of. He didn’t actually flunk kindergarten, but the school determined that he was too immature to be in kindergarten so they had him wait a year before starting. That put my dad in the same grade level as Kenny Rogers. My dad doesn’t have any strong memories of Kenny - they weren’t friends - but he remembers being in the same class with Kenny a couple of years. My grandmother used to play bridge or mahjong with Tommy Tune’s mother, who lived in the same neighborhood, and my dad’s youngest sister took dance lessons at Swayze’s School of Dance (run by Patrick Swayze’s mother) in the early 1960s. It’s just funny how my dad grew up with several people who became extremely famous. No one I knew as a child ever became famous…although one person I went to high school with did go on to become an astronaut who traveled to and spent time on the ISS a few years ago.

Regardless of how stupid it was, those kind of remarks were generally meant as compliments. If the women cast members or guests were offended by it, there’s little to no push-back that’s evident. Until you get to the insufferable “Women’s Lib” business but those women couldn’t stand men in general.
