That depended on so many variables. The studio, scheduling, equipment..... even Ed Sullivan who prided himself on having live performances had to have a few groups lip sync. Many groups preferred to perform live but a lot of times, it simply wasn't possible. American Bandstand's studio through the 1960's wasn't equipped with multitrack recording. "Bandstand" was considered "just a kiddie show" and wasn't allowed a decent budget into the 70's.

Been a fan of The Guess Who since my big brother passed all his R&R albums down to me when he found Jesus. Thank you Jesus. Seen all kinds of Bachman/Cummings sets lately, still 20 years old and 20 years after this. Still great music. It hasn't aged because it was so unique when new. And yes, Montag Alexis, that was what hit me first. LIVE and Burton staring right down the lens. So young and just polished performers.

Thank you so much. Seeing the real guess who in January, just wanted recall their hits…remembered most lyrics..want to be able to sing along. What would we do without music?

How can anyone not like this song and this band? I've always loved Burton's voice

I am BLOWN AWAY!!! I am typically a CRITIC of live performances because they rarely sound like the original, but I have a great ear and cannot really tell any difference from this live performance and the studio version. Steve Miller is the only other band I have seen live that sounds just like the studio. I am Impressed and LOVE The Guess Who and STAND TALL by Burton Cummings!

I was young when this came out and liked their music and their songs. Never really paid much attention to the lyrics. Much later though I searched for decades to find a song that best described exactly what happened to me in the 1980s. Wow This song was right there all the time.

Wayne and Schuster. That brings back memories. The Guess Who are my favourite Canadian band.
