Hubert Sumlin was the heartbeat of the Wolf. The most underrated bluesman in history. Legend personified.

One of the most underrated guitarists of all time. We all love Jimi Hendrix, but Sumlin came first.

Man.. I am truly blessed to have shared the stage, and even life itself with a being beyond description as Hubie Sumlin. If everyone treated everyone else like Hubert Sumlin treated EVERYONE, we would all live forever. He was THAT good. Good in every way! The drivin' riff after SOTOTW is incredible. Man, I sat and cried...really. Still, to be a friend to Hubert is to be a friend to life, itself.

As a guitarist, he's one of my all-time heros. He lets it all out and has fun.

Man that just slowly creeps and crawls up my spine.Kenny did real good and still does real good.But back in the day that Hubert was playing with Wolf he laid the ground work and most of the foundation for what became modern day rock guitar...born from blues like this..Sh#t dont get no better..RIP Hubert Sumlin....God almighty, we wont see your likes again.

I'm not a musicologist, but think you're right. I've read main influence on Hendrix was Hubert Sumlin -- both the touch and that certain extra dimension Sumlin and Hendrix had in the sound they got out of their guitars. Hendrix learned how to set volume and tone controls on his Stratocaster and his amps from Sumlin. I don't think any other guitarist ever discovered the secret combination.

Dude im 13. I am a huge blues fan and I want kids to be able to have respect for the blues. Its sad to see people like Hubert go and nobody in my generation even care a slightest bit. Its not the looks, its the soul...

Just keep playing Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson and they'll slowly get it. The blues (and then rock and roll) are national treasures.

@rockboy8812 Agreed. Fantastic guitarist but sounds like a big bag of dogshit trying to crawl out of a dustbin. He needs to ditch that Fender for a LP in a hurry imo.
@Pepe13Pew6 жыл бұрын
I've sold off two LPs already. They sound like a Fender under a pillow at best. Fenders are tricky, but you get more cut when you need it. You just have to match it with the right amp and effects and master the volume and tone knobs.
@anthonycrystal339 жыл бұрын
KWS turns his volume up and is louder than the whole band put together! His shit is NOT that good! He wrote only 1 decent song! Otherwise his playing is as good as any young kid who picks up a squire and learns to play by ear!
@strenghtkill8 жыл бұрын
That's as insult to me. I play a squire and the same time learn to play by ear and I'm sure I'm a decent player at the age of 15
