[Chorus 1]
'Cause it's the first long kiss on a second date
Mama's all worried when you get home late
And dropping the ring in the spaghetti plate
'Cause your hands are shaking so much
And it's the way that she looks with the rice in her hair
Eating burnt suppers the whole first year
And asking for seconds to keep her from tearing up
Yeah, man, that's the good stuff

This song makes me cry every time. There are special moments in every marriage. I'll never forget before I proposed she checked my pulse at the dinner table because I looked so nervous; or when I first saw her in her wedding dress; or when our first baby was born; and the first months of living together. I guess struggles always come, but they're nothing compared to what matters.

When the bartender tells the narrator of the song "You can't find that here," I tear up every time. Such a simple lyric but it says so much. True love can't be expressed in words or replaced by ephemeral things... tells such an effective story in a deceptively simple, genuine style.

I cry every single time I hear this when it gets to the line "Being right there as our time got small and holding her hand when the good Lord called her up". I just picture an old married couple that stuck together for 60 years through thick and thin lying in a bed together, and the man thanking the Lord for bringing his wife into his life and all the happy moments they had.

My beloved wife died in January after 43 years of marriage. She had a prolonged illness and when the doctors did all they could, I held her hand as they followed her wishes to take her off life support. I held her hand as she left this world. I thank God for the time we had. Blessed be the name of the Lord.

I work in a retail bicycle store. Today, I had an elderly man come in to the store. After visiting about bikes, he showed me a picture of his wife, when she was young. Believe it or not, she had bouffant hair. He then showed me a pic of her at 72, one of the last pics before she died of ALS. This song was playing in my head the whole time he told me about his love for her. I won't be able to ever hear it again without tearing up.

My grandmother just adored Kenny Chesney.. she taught me so much about life and love and friendship.. she has been gone 18 years. But every year around her birthday come back here to listen.. her birthday is May 28th.. this year this song hit me different, my grandmother used to say " your blessings come from the people who love you" this year I'm suffering severe lymphedema I can't even make it out of bed.. but thankfully I'm blessed with a family I got a 12 year old boy that loves cooking as much as I do and took over all the meals.. I got a 10 year old that won't leave my side just in case I need something. And I got a woman that cares and takes time from her day to make sure I have all I need.. it really is the good stuff.. im so thankful

“SPENT FIVE YEARS IN THE BAR. WHEN THE CANCER TOOK HER FROM ME. NOW IVE BEEN SOBER FOR 3 YEARS NOW BECAUSE THE ONE THING STRONGER THAN THE WHISKEY” is what I’ve been shouting the past couple of days since my daughter was born this past Saturday. I’m only 21 and I go back and forth from this song to “there goes my life” by Kenny. but this one stands out to me because ever since my ex and I broke up I’ve been drinking everyday for over 8 months. going to sober up for my daughter. thanks Kenny for this song and the inspiration to do better and be a better person. More importantly be a great Dad.

Ive been listening to this song since it came out. Reminds my wife and I of her mom since she died, my son was 1 years old, he is now 18. My mother in law had a brain tumor and lost the battle, after a year and a half in a comma. Reminds us of the happy memories we had with her. She will forever be in our hearts.

No wife or kids, but I think of him whenever I hear this song, because it illustrates what being sober has taught him about life. He’s so passionate about so many things and so much fun to talk with. Love you so much, Drew!!! 💕💕💕 Keep on keepin’ on, Baby Bro!!

May God always keep those memories as clear as the day you experienced them. 7 years ago I lost my girlfriend in a car wreck, and I spent 3 and half years alone, re-living those moments. Everyone has their own grieving period, and there is no time tables. But I pray that you find that inner peace that allows you to fully understand that even as valuable as the life that has left, there is as much equal value in the life you have left here. Live it to its FULLEST my friend. God Bless!!

@@kennetharnoldchesney965 I've been a fan for over a year now. Your album Here and Know has been more inspirational than Chromatica. And that reminds me that Lady Gaga MUST NOT win any Grammy Awards this year. Don't take my word for it, Kenny: more people would rather listen to "You Had Me from Hello" (or any other one of your hits) than to "I Get a Kick Out of You", "Poker Face", etc. And I'm not making this up.
