Both this Assembly and the Setup videos were essential to putting my Rikon 10-326 bandsaw together and accurately calibrating it to an optimal state, ready for use. The content covered everything I needed to know to get my saw set up efficiently, presenting the just right amount of information within each segment. The instructions are well-organized and well-paced, focusing on one topic at a time . Not only are the How-To steps clearly demonstrated, well lit, and cut to good close-ups as needed, but the reasoning behind each step in the process is also explained. This enhanced my understanding of the purpose behind each individual component and the overall mechanics of safe bandsaw operation. For this particular model, Acutabove Woodworking's tutorials are about as well organized, comprehensive, and concise as they come, and due to the product's popularity, there's no shortage of videos to choose from. In my opinion, for anyone who has recently bought or thinking of buying the Rikon 14" 10-326 bandsaw, these should be at the top of your watch list.

Excellent video. I used it to help put together my new bandsaw yesterday. One tip I learned is that you can use two 123 blocks to help set the fence rail parallel to the table. I just put one in between the rail and the table next to each mounting stud and tightened it up until they were both snug. I kept them in as I leveled the rail with the table.

I have used this saw to re-saw all of those species Tom and while this is a 14" bandsaw, I have only re-sawn widths of 10" boards or less. Actually going to get this model today at Woodcraft!! Thanks for the informative video. Like you, I will be doing this myself (work alone). So rather than moving it myself from my Ranger into the shop, I figured I will open it up in the back of the Ranger and carry it in in pieces. Also, love the mobility kit, have a cramped shop (ok garage) myself and will need something. But seems like $150 for this base is quite a large sum for what it really is!!
@acutabove_woodworkings2 жыл бұрын
Mobile bases are one of those things were there are plenty of options. The problem is that in order to get a mobile base that is rated for the weight of the tool, in most cases you are spending the $150 anyway so in my opinion, it's just better to get one that is designed for and rated for the saw. Just my opinion of course. Good luck with your saw Jay. I hope that your setup is easy going and that you are able to get your saw into the garage with no issues. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

Great video, I’ve got the box delivered today and I’m just rewatching before I dig into it. Thanks for the video. Luckily for me the delivery guys put it right inside my door for me. Edit to add; totally impressed during unboxing, everything feels very substantial, heavy duty, and high quality. Except....the M5 flush mount bolts that attach the band saw to the stand, as one of the methods for attaching the base recommended by the manual and just like you did it is to attach the stand and then tip up the saw, I could see those small bolts stretching or snapping, Rikon should have used the same size bolts as used for the stand assembly. Looking at your video again you can see when you are standing it up a separation of the base and the bandsaw, possible bolt stretching there at 9:25

@acutabove_woodworkings2 жыл бұрын
I just didn't want wheels on the base while trying to install the heavy saw on top of it. If putting the wheels on first works for you Jeff, then by all means, there's no reason that I can see why you couldn't do it that way. Thanks for tuning in and good luck with your new saw.
@terryk31184 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the detailed video. I'm using it to assemble my saw as it's much better than the printed instruction as well as their video. One of the things I didn't see in the Rikon instructions is that there is a "front" and "back" to the base plate. With only a 50-50 chance of getting it correct, naturally I put mine together backwards on the first try! One question for you: Do you recommend wiping away the generous amount of grease from the trunnion assembly to stop sawdust from accumulating - or is it best to leave it on to aid in adjusting table angle?
@acutabove_woodworkings4 жыл бұрын
Hey there Terry, thanks for contacting me. I would suggest leaving the grease on. For the length of time that I have had my saw, I have never had any problems with sawdust buildup on the trunnions or on the rack and pinion adjustment of the saw. The grease is needed to reduce the metal on metal friction that can cause so many problems. I'm glad that you found the show to be helpful and I thank you for tuning in and taking the time to leave a comment. It is very much appreciated. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

I have watched your 3 videos on this saw and really appreciate your effort and style of no nonsense production. I am picking up my new saw in a few days and the assembly and setup videos will really help. I have a question regarding the table cleaning. What did you use to clean the table and how did you coat the table once cleaned. Thanks again for the great, instructive videos. Pat
@acutabove_woodworkings4 жыл бұрын
The initial cleaning of the shipping grease is just cleaned off with some mineral spirits Pat. It does a great job of dissolving all the grease and really getting the parts cleaned. The problem is that it then leaves the cast iron unprotected. I have found that a great protection for the cast iron surfaces has been Autosol metal polish. It is normally used in maintaining hand planes and their cast iron surfaces but it has been exceptional in keeping my table saw, band saw, oscillating drum sander, disc sander and jointer in immaculate condition. It's easy to use, low odour and works great. The best part is, that it leaves a protective coating after you are done to protect the surface. A little goes a long way and it reasonably priced. Here's a link for it. www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/tools/supplies/polishing/67014-autosol-metal-polish?item=54Z1510 I hope this helps. Good luck with your new saw and thanks for tuning in. question: I just started to watch your video and noticed the tow bar on the mobility kit. From Rikons site the 10-326 isn't listed in their "list of saws"..although the non tow bar mobility kit is. Do you know if they changed something or did you just figure out that it would work? Ready to buy the mobility kit but like the one with the tow bar versus the foot press to lifting wheels one they mentioned for the saw. Thanks
@acutabove_woodworkings Жыл бұрын
I am not affiliated with Rikon but I too checked their website and found nothing pertaining to the mobile base with the tow bar. I also checked on Lee Valley's website (where I got the base) and they also do not carry it. I would have to go under the assumption that they have revamped and updated their inventory and that they have decided not to carry on with the tow bar style of mobile base. That being said, I have other tools that have the foot press style lift base and they are just fantastic. You don't have to store the tow bar that way. Thanks for tuning in Jeff and for bringing the change in mobile bases to my attention. I truly appreciate it. Good luck with your mobile base purchase. Either version is fantastic.

Great video! What do you use as a protectant after you clean off the oil and grease from the table?
@acutabove_woodworkings3 жыл бұрын
For years I used paste wax and I have also tried using Glide Cote protective sprays but I found that they didn't last. A couple of years ago, I started using a metal polishing compound called Auto-Sol. It does a great job of bringing the cast iron to a beautiful shine and leaves behind a protective coating that seems to last forever. Give it a try. Here's a link. www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/tools/supplies/polishing/67014-autosol-metal-polish?item=54Z1510 I hope this helps Mikel. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

@acutabove_woodworkings3 жыл бұрын
It is very possible that there is paint on the threads of the inserts. Chances are, you are just fine to continue screwing these in. Just check to make sure that you are not cross threaded and if the threads are going in just fine, carry on with the assembly.

Where does the Leveling Pin go. Does it go into a hole for storage? Also the front of the table is a tad lower than the back. Is there an adjustment?
@acutabove_woodworkings Жыл бұрын
The levelling pin goes in the hole in the front of the table Mike. In the table, there is a slot that runs from the front of the table to the blade and in the middle of that slot is a hole. The pin gets placed in that hole and keeps the table surfaces on either side of the slot aligned. As for the table being square from the front to the back, you may need to adjust your trunnions. On page 14 of your manual (if you don't have one you can find it here. www.rikontools.com/manuals/10-326.pdf ) it shows how to adjust the blade squareness from front to back. There are two Allen key adjustments in the trunnion mount that need to be tightened or loosened depending on which way your table is tilting. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in to the show Mike.

Hi Kenny, great video as always, was just wondering what protective spray you use on your cast iron tables
@acutabove_woodworkings6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words on the show. I actually use two products on my cast iron. The spray, I use for a quick coating of protection and that is called Glidecote. It is a sealant and a lubricant for the tools so the stock slides easily on the cast surface. I find that it works really well on the jointer where there is a lot of stock being slid across the iron. You can find it here. www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=40952&cat=1,230,64343,64350. For a longer last protection and a wicked shine, I use Autosol metal polish. It polishes the cast iron to a fine shine and applies a protective seal coating that lasts for months. A little of this stuff goes a long way so the tube lasts a very long time. It's a little more work to apply, but nothing serious. Here's the link. www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=67014&cat=1,43415,43439,67014. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

Good job, Ken. Now that you've had it for two years, what do you think of the tool? I'm looking at getting this saw to prepare bowl blanks. Thoughts?
@acutabove_woodworkings4 жыл бұрын
I haven't had a single issue with the machine Marc. I gave a full review of the saw after using it for some time and as well, I recently gave a report on it during one of my 6 month update shows. I've cut up to (no need for me to cut thicker with my setup) 8" thick boards without any issues. The guide bearings are still awesome. No problems with alignment or the thrust bearings. All belts are still functioning properly and I have yet to be able to stall the machine out. I think you will be quite happy with it and find a heck of a lot more capabilities other than just bowl blanks. I hope this helps Marc. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

Picked up my 10-326 from the shipping terminal this morning. This video was really helpful Kenny, especially with the base. No assembly instructions with that other than "here's an exploded view, now put it together". Great job. I did some of the setup before making my first cut and OH MY GOD! This thing is sweet, especially compared to my old 10" Craftsman benchtop saw. Will follow your setup video tomorrow or this weekend and get it all tuned in. Edit: Oh, I meant to a ask about that spray on coating you use. I'm using Johnson's paste wax on my table saw and did on this table as well. Is your spray on stuff better/easier, and what is it? Edit 2: Just saw the end post where you provided a link to the Glidecote. Will see about picking some up. It's time redo my tablesaw anyway and get ready for Christmas builds. Might as well give this a try.
@acutabove_woodworkings6 жыл бұрын
The Glidecote is a great solution for a quick coating to protect the table. It is easy to apply and goes on quickly. It also has great lubrication qualities and allows the stock to glide over the cast iron effortlessly. For a little extra elbow grease though, I have found that a much better (and longer lasting) solution is Autosol metal polish. It polishes the cast iron to an awesome shine and leaves behind a protective coating that also lubricates. It has become my goto polish for the cast iron and a little goes a long way. Here's the link. www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=67014&cat=1,43415,43439,67014 If you have any questions along the way with your bandsaw, feel free to ask. Every project that I make Buddy starts off as rough cut 8/4 stock. So every project involved re-saw. I've had several blades (albeit they were on my old bandsaw) and I was never happy with them. I purchased some of these www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/tools/power-tool-accessories/saw-blades/band-saw/111150-blades-for-rikon-14-inch-deluxe-bandsaw?item=03J5707 and have never looked back. @@buddytrent1351 You can definitely re-saw with the stock 5/8" blade. It has a few more teeth per inch and will not cut as quickly but you can certainly do it. I just found that I got much better results with the thinner kerf re-saw blade meant for the saw. But if you are in need to re-saw (or are just dying to try out your new toy) the 5/8" blade it comes with will certainly do the job for you. I hope this helps.

I know this is an older video but I was curious how tall you are? I'm 5'8" tall and I am considering this saw but am kind of turned off by the height of the table to the floor being at 41" which to me seems pretty high. I know I could lower it by building a different base but it looks like a fairly comfortable height on you. So I was just wondering your height compared to mine. Thanks for the great videos on this model.

I am 6' 2" tall Miller. I have never had an issue with the height of this bandsaw and you are correct that it is quite comfortable for me. My suggestion would be to check your local woodworking stores to see if they have one in their showroom that you could check out for height. I honestly don't think you would have an issue with it. What do you use to protect the table?
@acutabove_woodworkings5 жыл бұрын
I used to use a Bostik spray for the cast iron but I've since gotten away from that as I find that it isn't very durable. Some folks use past wax and that is just fine as well. I personally, prefer to use a metal polish. My preferred brand at the moment is Auto-Sol metal polish. A little goes a long way and it polishes the table top to a beautiful shine and leaves behind a very durable, protective coating. I hope this helps. thanks for tuning in. Measuring the distance from the miter slot to a straight edge you _hope_ is parallel to the blade is too prone to error. You need to make test cuts and incrementally adjust the table on the trunnions. A good guide for this is kzbin.info/www/bejne/rH_Ho56jrZuYnqs. Yes, it's a bit finicky-but essential.

It’s not the saw I thought it would be. No matter what I do I get blade drift. I wouldn’t recommend it.
@acutabove_woodworkings Жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear this Alan. Blade drift is caused by many factors and sometimes, it is just the blade that is twisted. In most cases that I have discovered though, blade drift is caused by two major factors....1) using a blade that is improperly sized for the task or 2) improper setup of the thrust and guide bearings. While I'm not suggesting that you don't know how to set these up, I would suggest that you check videos on the proper alignment of the bearing and try a different blade and see if it helps you. You have to remember that blade drift is just that....BLADE drift. It isn't a feature of the saw, it's a feature of the blade and proper setup of the saw can combat that. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
