I certainly believe the pros outweigh the cons. Being an Insurance Agent, like any job, takes time and consistency. There is a lot of groundwork at play especially if you are newly licensed and building your book. On the lowest days I remind myself of the flexibility I have over prior jobs and to keep pushing on because of residual income. Many Agents that I have met over time all live or have lived great lives by dedicating their careers to growing their book. In my own experience, I can only speak from the Commercial side of P&C Insurance. Best of luck to everyone out there grinding day in and day out!

Do you have any advice on where one would start to land a position in the Insurance Industry that isn't so demanding for us natural introverts? I have some tech certificates and some college but no degrees. Would I be able to find a position in underwriting or any other insurance position without any degrees? I've been a Medicare broker for two years at an MLM agency now. I work at an agency as an account manager on the servicing side of things instead of selling. I process the renewal policies (bill them, review them, send them to the customer), I make policy changes, I answer the customers question and help when there are problems like if there’s a claim or a billing issue or their price goes up or they’re policy gets non-renewed or things like that. Sometimes I write new policies if the customer needs another policy or a new customer calls for insurance (but I’m not really soliciting new business). You usually make more money selling (if you’re decent at it that is) but a lot of people don’t like the pressure of selling and not everyone is successful at it.
