Cozy Rainy Weekend in the Truck Camper.

Join Kenny of All Trades as he shares his rainy weekend in the truck camper, showcasing the challenges and joys of dry camping in less-than-ideal conditions.
This week I'm taking you onto tax forfeit land west of Backus. I was looking google maps trying to find a spot to camp. I know there are multiple pull-offs down a forest road in the Foothills State Forest. Those spots are used by deer hunters. The sites are usually bigger and will fit two or three campers. The disadvantage of these sites is they are socked in the woods without big views. So, when I saw this sight had a smaller pond on the backside, I figured we would give it a try.
I don't think this spot gets used much. It was overgrown and the trail leading to the water was grown over. I've been carrying weed whip in the camper for a few weeks. This week I was able to put it to work. The fire pit needed attention. It just so happened the grader went through and kicked up a bunch of rocks, I built a respectable fire pit. This weekend was nothing spectacular. It has been raining so much. I need to figure out a way to share how comfy the camper is in the rain without it being to boring to watch.

Thanks! It's always a double-edged sword when videos get more views. The fuel bill starts to get paid, but the folks with ugly hearts full of hate show up. I'm glad that I have a great bunch of regular viewrs who enjoy the videos for what they are. I tell myself to stop reading comments on Thursday nights. Otherwise, come Friday, I don't even want to press record. The good news is that the positive comments outweigh the bad big time. I've probably got over a 150 comments throughout all the videos today. I've only had to delete and block 5 or 6 people. So that's not too bad. I really appreciate you guys and your kind words.

My dog used to breakout in a rash so I had to give him Apoquel everyday which is pretty expensive. Then last year I used this company called My Pet Sensitivity. I sent them 10 -15 of my dogs hairs in a little ziplock bag and they analyzed it for food and environmental allergies or sensitivities. $50 . They emailed me the results in a well organized format. One of my dogs sensitivities is wheat flour I found out. So I changed his diet and he doesn’t need the medicine anymore. No more rashes .

It's been my experience that if you don't feed a dog off of your plate, he doesn't equate it to something he wants to eat. Therefore they don't beg or bother you while you're eating. Anyone who watches your videos can tell Toby is loved and happy. He's such a good, well behaved, beautiful dog.

My wife an I really enjoy your videos. Years ago I lived in Iowa and moved to Arizona in 2001. I use to go tent camping in Iowa with my oldest son. {He is 39 now) Seeing your videos brings back many good memories. Like when i was in my teens (1970's) I would wrap potatoes and onions in foil for my mom and I would cook them on the grill. My parents lived in Michigan then and we had a small camper. Now 50 years later my wife and I are on our third travel trailer. We always take our dog when we travel. He is so smart and knows when we are getting ready for a trip. Back in 2018 we tried to have a channel, but it was too hard. We truly appreciate all of the work you put into your channel. We look forward to your adventures every week. I was trying to figure out what I could do to capture more of the rain. I sat I the camper until noon on Saturday waiting for the rain to pass. I wish I could think of something to show relaxing it can be in the camper in the rain. Saturday night the rain moved in as well. Sunday was so humid. The air was so thick! we've been having a lot of rain all week.

I know it is frustrating when your dog has some medical issues. Thank you for taking such good of Toby, he is such a nice dog! My 2 year old dog had labs & was found to have EPI, (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency). So he couldn't digest his food, he is now getting pancreatic enzymes in every meal. So he can't eat treats either!

Another awesome video!! Kenny no doubts in my mind about Toby's well being. You can look at that handsome guy & tell he is well cared for & for sure he loves you. Kenny, anyone who watches the interaction and treatment of you towards Toby can clearly see why dogs are man's best friend. When I die I want to come back as one of your dogs! LOL!!! Out of curiosity is the food that Toby tolerates a rice based feed? My Dad was a Fulbright Scholar with one of the fields he taught was animal nutrition and health. In the twenty plus years that we raised Golden Retrievers we would occasionally have a dog that had digestive problems. One of the things Dad would do is add rice to their diet which is very gentle to a inflamed digestive system. The other thing that he would add to their diet was called Sweet Acidophilus Milk which used to be available at the grocery store. Dad explained that there are animals (humans also) that when given antibiotics the antibiotic can actually kill as Dad called them "good gut bugs" that are necessary for proper digestion. Acidophilus (Lactobacillus acidophilus) is loaded with "good gut bugs". I don't know if it's still readily available locally but I did see a Goat's Milk with Acidophilus added. Goat's milk is another easily digested item. Might be something to ask your Vet about. The good news is that you have found a commercial food that he does tolerate. Maybe with time things will improve for him naturally. I still can't believe anyone would doubt the loving care that Toby gets..............he gets to go camping every weekend...........that's more than I get LOL!!! Great Vid as always!

I feed him Orijen puppy food. I'll be honest...it dosent smell the best. But he loves it. The first 5 ingredients are all proteins. Chicken, Turkey, Chicken Liver, Salmon, Whole Herring. It is grain free. It doesn't smell the best because of the fish, but Toby loves it. So does the cat. If Toby walks away from the bowl, the cat is all over it.

@@KennyOfAllTrades I had never heard of Orijen before today. I looked at their website..........wow!!!! That is some awesome food. The high protein & fat is awesome. No wonder he has such a shiny coat and is so smart. We feed our Golden Pup Salmon treats which she is crazy for but I agree about the aroma! I'll bet the cat keeps a close eye on Toby while he eats!

You know what's best for Toby. I understand why you don't feed him from your plate. I can't do that with my dog either. I have a 1 year old Australian Shepherd who has a very delicate stomach. No one wants their dog sick. Totally love watching your videos🙂
