Hot Take (AND JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION): I personally dislike the stuff going around on the internet about Obi-Wan having a thing for Padme cause of his comment to Leia. If you watch the Clone Wars animated series, we learn that Obi-Wan had loved someone. Duchess Satine of Mandalore. But his commitment to the Jedi ways kept him from leaving to be with her. Through that series we see him start falling for her again, just to watch her be executed at the hands of Darth Maul. I don't believe he ever loved anyone like that except Satine. I think his comment to Leia wasn't him saying "I wish I had gotten with Padme" but more of a "I wish I could say that, because of what your father has become". But I can understand why (without having seen the animated series), you might wonder if he meant it a different way. At least that's my opinion on it.

IMHO That's not so much a "Hot Take" as much as a "Duh, completely obviously." There was never anything but respect and dear friendship between them in the movies - and even moreso in TCW. That whole "Obi-Wan wanted Padme" horsehockey came about from some clickbait garbage.
@ronyrontana97352 жыл бұрын
Obi's comment has nothing to do with Padme. He means that he wishes anything to be true other than the truth. He knows the pain and suffering that awaits the twins once they learn that Vader is their father. He probably believes he will ultimately be the one that has to reveal this truth to Luke and possibly Leia as well. It is well established in the prequels and Clone Wars series that Konobi and Padme share a strong bond, have great respect for, and care deeply about each other. But there is never even the slightest hint of any romantic or sexual feelings felt by one or both. Most of there conversations are about Anikan's wellbeing. Being the two people that know Anikan best, spend the most time with and care for Anikan the most, they naturally seek each other's advice to better help him. Anyone saying anything different is just trying ro start chit.

Something like that kind of happens in one of the animated shows Yeah, Bail was a Republic senator, the republic became the empire, so he’s now an imperial senator Tit for tat. Obi left him to burn, so he burns him back. At least he didn’t cut off three of his limbs Anakin doesn’t hate younglings. He was just fully convinced he had to kill them with the other jedi “I don’t want anyone to die!” Cut to last episode: “Shoot Frek too!” 😂 Grand Inquisitor would be #1. Like the rest of modern Star Wars, there's brief moments that feel they're meant for adults, but most of the narrative seems aimed at young teens, a child's story. Leigh's chase scene was just unbearable for me lol, same for a certain "trench coat and walking" scene.

The first chase scene felt entirely unnecessary and silly but I was able to look past it. Something I've learned watching all the Made For Streaming series (Trek, Wars, most Netflix shows) is to treat each season like a movie. Not so much individual episodes like traditional TV, but one big story broken up into acts. Ep1&2 are Act 1, Ep3&4 are Act 2, and Ep5&6 are Act 3. Take it as a whole, not in it's constituent parts and it turns from an OK TV experience into a fantastic movie experience. Personal opinion obviously, but I've put this mindset to a few others and they've found a new appreciation for them.

A funny thing about the series is, that each episode mirrors one Episode of the first 6 Star Wars movies. Part I has parallels to Phantom Menace, with taking place on Tatooine for the most part. Part II and Attack of the Clones share a Clone Trooper, a neon-lit city and bounty hunters. Part III and Revenge of the Sith has a duel between Vader and Obi-Wan, with one of them getting burned Part IV and A New Hope both are about rescuing Leia from an Imperial base. As for part V and VI, I won't tell the connections yet ^^ What I also like about the series is Obi-Wan's journey, which is resembled in this clothes. At first he was as far from the Jedi as possible, barely able to use the force and thus was his clothing. More a normal farmer than a Jedi. By Episode 4 he is already very close to a "classic" Jedi-tunic, and he even does some spinning of his lightsaber. And it doesn't stop there :D

it would be possible to implement illusions via the Force, the Dyad in the sequel trilogy proved that with Ben and Rey communicating from afar, Palpatine plaguing Anakin's dreams with visions of Padmé's death would be another if true but that's just a theory right now, the comics showed powerful sith or artifacts imposing illusions on others, Maul once was put into an illusion where he was a Jedi, Vader was subjected to illusions of a long dead Sith Darth Momin's life story by a haunted mask of the sith lord himself Going around the fence was a common observation for the episode, as is the Third sister somehow discovering a shortcut they decided not to use that allowed her to beat Leia, who was running and had a huge headstart, to the pilot Sadly Episode 4 struggled to resonate so much with me, mainly because it's ripped from the climax of one of the games, right down to Castle Inquisitorius itself

You couldn't really notice at first, but Vader here has the most powerful lines in the series. Like in this episode. "I am what you made me!" Obi-Wan basically raised Anakin, taught him everything, from dueling to using the force. And he was the one who let Anakin run into selfish actions and dreams. What eventually led to his demise. "You should've killed me when you had the chance!" Due to the trauma, and the burns, Vader lives in constant physical and mental pain every day. Even breathing hurts him. Vader isn't just angry at Obi-Wan because he chopped him up, he is angry because of Obi-Wan's weakness towards him. He loved him so much he couldn't kill him, ending his misery there, instead he let him burn there alive.

Also, when Vader was brutalizing the people in the street, he was trying to draw Obi-Wan out, but Obi-Wan knew wheat he was doing but as much as it pained him to see those people suffer, he knew going out in the open to face him to save those people would do nothing. I'm surprised the frozen youngling wasn't included. That part, I couldn't tell if it was disturbing or funny thinking of the ep3 meme. I find that backwards spin/Obi-Ani spin by Reva to be kind of funny, almost being like a sign that her recklessness, and her urge to kill, knowing what she went through, was making her turn more and more into Vader, day after day.

Honestly, the way this show was written (if you take the time to think, you can see how badly this was done) it's only saving grace was Darth Vader; and even he wasn't necessary to the story. It takes away from their big confrontation on the Death Star. The show could have been about Obi-Wan continuing his new training on Tatooine while protecting Luke from afar; all while trying to understand why events happened as they did. Qui-Gon's Force ghost could have led Obi-Wan to the ruins of the old Tusken Camp, and showed a young Anakin Skywalker weeping while cradling his mother's body, and the lengths he would go to save lives. Obi-Wan could probably sense Jedi being killed throughout the series or tortured by an unknown villain (Vader) while asking them over and over "Where is he?! Where is he?!" and then react with shock upon getting a drink at a cantina only to see on the holonet news a nest of Jedi being wiped out by Darth Vader; learning that his apprentice did survive Mustafar. You could even show him dealing with PTSD from the Clone Wars.

If you think about it, the only way Vader stays alive is his suit and the bacta tank he uses every night to more or less "heal". It's such a sad life to live. I can understand the dudes got anger issues.

The acting of Ewan (Obi-Wan) and Vivian (Leah) are the absolute best thing in this show!!! If Disney doesn't use Vivian to make a teenage Leah show when she gets a little older, they will be SERIOUSLY missing the opportunity of a lifetime!!! She is the absolute incarnation of Carrie Fisher's Leah!!!

For one, this show was meant to be a movie, which is why the filler feels gratuitous so it can make up the length of a show. Also they chose such a hard time period to work with within Star Wars because we know who will live, who will die, who’s important in the grand scheme of things, and who isn’t. With all that the stakes and investment feel low because they’re trapped between the canon and continuity of two trilogies

VKunia, I think OBI-WAN KENOBI was great from start to finish... but, indeed, it does get even better! Plus, more rationales will be revealed. #StarWars #ObiWanKenobi #DisneyPlus

All you Debby downers do realize that if the empire never makes mistakes, always does the 'smart' thing, the Rebels don't win. When faced with such overwhelming forces and impossible odds, the underdogs must benefit from mistakes/incompetence by the opposition to have ANY chance for victory.

Can the force be used to manipulate people? Well yes. I mean Jedi can do the hand wave and change peoples minds. And the Sith are capable of the same sort of thing. (spoiler for the last SW movie, can't remember if you watched it or not)....Hence the last movie had Palpatine being the one that called was in Kylos head pretending to be various voices like Vader and what not.

“I thought she was gonna eat a snack.” 🤣 I am one that enjoyed the series, i also see that Episode 4, despite being a homage to Ben sneaking around the original Death Star in the original Episode 4, was not the best executed. The final two episodes though, I’ll get my snacks for your reaction.

I agree. The content of the episode is actually pretty good, but the execution sometimes wasn't great, which is a shame.
