Important question: how effective can a martial arts system be where one is required to strike so many times in order to complete a defensive maneuver? They never compete because they can never win at competitive events. Guess what? If they went to tournaments we could see how “effective” their system really is…they didn’t go to tournaments back in the day. One practitioner argued that the system’s techniques were “too deadly” for competitive events. Sounds to me like a control issue, mainly that they cannot control an active competitor on the floor like they do their practice dummies.

It's like most styles/systems...they have a great plan of how it's to work....teaching combinations like in boxing yet without the practical application with a living being strike back for real....without practical application they are just "planned" ideas...I always quote Mike Tyson when it comes to a plan. "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth" Brilliantly said by him

Kenpo strikes project the movement of target , kick knee target falls forward as a example each strike will keep target in lock
@johnweidkunas22015 жыл бұрын
If he falls down then confrontation over. Over trained on Shotokan for years which has philosophy "1 strike 1 kill." The techniques work! Kenpo does not not have 1 offensive strike all defensive
@DexterBachman3 жыл бұрын
@@johnweidkunas2201 although used as a defense in this demonstration of the technique the same sequence of strikes can be used as an offense. Ideally an expert practitioner of Kenpo can spontaneously rearrange the movements to fit the situation either defensively or offensively.
