Does anyone actually believe that this works as instructed in ,video? I LOVE Kenpo but only the block and the first 2 strikes will realistically work
@youmadbro7733Ай бұрын
No one, and I mean NO ONE, punches like that! You’re showing things that are in defense against attacks that would never happen. This is why people doubt Kenpo.

And of course....re-stomp the groin.

These techniques look very effective I believe individually they are valid. But I'm not too fond of techniques against a dummy. Nobody, after getting their elbow smashed, the back of their knee attacked and a knee strike to the spine...will remain in a mannequin-like position while being hit. There is no body mechanics in these techniques. If you hit someone that should double him over, then do the technique from that position AFTER but not have the guy stand there like a store-built dumy and take all the punishment. This is Hollywood and no meant for the streets

It will not work I got kicked in the groin once and was n the fetal position for like 20 minutes once your hit there for us guys anyway your out of commission, go check out my Kenpo Sucks videos in the playlist and martial arts playlist and subscribe.

People realize since the first UFC came out that this 1980's choreographed fighting is not realistic but its still entertaining

Don’t UFC fighters shadow box, game plan, do situational drills like this?… Speaking as a martial artist and participating in Sport Jujutsu (this is what we did before MMA was legalized in NYS), we do these drills like situational drills (like this) for certain situations. Take wrestling for example, we did ALOT of situational drills. Example: You are anticipating on scoring a blast double leg, the opponent uses not only a sprawl but also a c-grip on the c-spine as well as a means to control and achieves the overbook to accomplish a half Nelson to side mount. From there, the fighter can drill awareness of BOTH bodies, drill circling and other scramble methods. MMA fighters do the same thing: The goal is score a O’ Goshi, retain side mount eventually transition to full mount, rack points and seek out Juji Gatame (arm bar) but they roll up into guard, next phase is maybe Sankaku Jime (triangle choke). Catch the drift? Hope this helped create insight!

thank you rick .. gooooood Larry could have cast for Doctor Strange with those kenpo hands like many martial arts the text book training version always looks great, and there is nothing wrong with that. of course the real world may look a lot more chaotic. and of course you might only be successful with the first couple of steps in the combination, but attacking by combination is still one of the best methods.

I am a former Shaolin Kempo Karate practitioner and would have been a yellow belt if I had stayed but no seasoned street thug is gonna let you try this out on them. Yes black bellts have been killed in street fights. Eat your ego and be willing to use techniques from any style without putting yourself in danger

This is absurd. I know the Kenpo experts are in astounding condition and do have powerful strikes. I don't think many people are going to be receiving the 3rd strike onward.

What I like about Kenpo is that you smother the attacker with a bunch of strikes to vital areas and it offers you many options to finish the attacker. I believe that the attacker would be finished with the first few strikes, the rest is overkill; but is always good to learn all the options you have. Love the sequential flow of action!

Demonstrations are always pretty and sometimes impressive. But demonstrations always have the one thing you will NEVER encounter in a real world attack: a cooperative opponent. And always remember: There's no "style" in a real fight. There's only "fight" in a fight!

A lot of things taught in kenpo can be adjusted or added in. You can basically make up your own techniques, if the kenpo parameters are kept.
@Icehso1409 ай бұрын
Yes...we learned that the techniques are just giving us tools for the toolbox to be brought out as we see the position of our attacker change at the moment. From what I was told, a lot of Mr. Parker's techniques were real life confrontations that ended with one strike, and the other moves were added to give students something to learn. I experienced this first hand when I was attacked for real and only got to do the first move of Five Swords.
