The missing part maybe is the meaning of the cacao varieties. Three words and varieties discovered and born in Venezuela. We, Venezuelan, use the same categorisation for people that born in the country "criollos", people who is a foreigner but is living and feels Venezuelan are "forasteros" and the trinitarios...a former and lost island of Venezuela.

Hi Etienne, Thanks for watching and commenting on our videos here on our channel. Where are you located? Philippines? Typically people buy the raw beans in large volumes. And they would do the roasting themselves. In the past few years, there's also large volume quantities of cacao nibs being produced and bought in large volumes. Cacao Nibs would be your roasted beans that has been already separated from the shells through the winnowing process. Depending on what you need and where you are situated, we can offer or suggest sources of beans or cacao nibs depending on your requirement.

Thanks for commenting on our video. That’s a very good question. Actually it depends on the maturity of the farm, the skill and know how of the person also. Sa mga training sessions that I have attended they say 1 person kaya 3 hectares but again Depends siguro sa skill and also farm management. Our farm we are around 2 people to 3 hectare (1:1.5 ratio). I have seen a very optimal farm na 3 people - 6 hectares (1:2 ratio). Then pag harvest mag add lang ng tao based on seasonality. Again please be mindful sa skill ng tao, the resources that they are given to perform the task contribute towards how well and efficiently they take care of your farm

Sir,, ano po yung palatandaan na ang cacao bean ay trinitario? Kasi diba nagsabi mo na ang criollo ay white to pinkish and forastero ay violet,, ano naman po sa trinitario?
@cacaocultureph4 жыл бұрын
Actually trinitario is the mix of the two varieties so we’ve seen light violet pag bean cut mixed with slightly white beans sa isang pod. Most of the time white beans (criollo) what people look out for but for us each variety is unique and has its own story to tell

sir pwede ba sa rolling hills ang cacao? specifically yun trinitario
@cacaocultureph4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sir Jimmy, thank you for commenting po here on our channel. That's a very good question. Regarding Trinitario specifically I am not sure about how it will fare in a rolling hills topography. For cacao farming in general, rolling hills pwede naman mag grow ang cacao trees but I am not recommending the set up because it will be hard for your farm team to maintain and harvest later on. Imagine going up and down hill to fertilize, prune the trees and carrying cacao pods. So for the same amount of cacao beans sobrang taas na ng labor cost. Then you would need to consider soil erosion and soil nutrient loss when it washes away during rainy days. If you really want to develop a cacao farm sa hillside, you can apply terrace farming. Most popularly known terrace farming in the Philippines would be our Banaue Rice Terraces or the Ifugao Rice terraces. Sa sloping or hill part of the farm you have to cut into a series of successively receding flat surfaces or platforms, which resemble steps, for the purposes of more effective farming. I have not seen an actual cacao application for terrace farming but this type of farming method would be okay for cacao, otherwise you will have to deal with the concerns I raised earlier. I hope we were able to answer your question and help you on your cacao journey. We super appreciate the question.

Paano po imarket yun produce n cacao,?
@cacaocultureph4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching our video and commenting po. Good luck on your cacao journey!

We personally do not sell criollo seedlings or seeds. You can check out some groups that advocate this kind of planting materials. top of mind is Plantacion de Sikwate but they might be expensive. I am not sure about the authenticity of other sellers na criollo po talaga ang binebenta. I hope that this information helped Dena. Thanks for watching our videos and joining our KZbin family
