Either filter is an excellent choice. First pass efficiency refers to the amount of particles trapped by the filter after the oil has been circulated thru the filter.

Enjoyed your very informative video. Just got a new Exmark Radius S series with the 22 hp Kawasaki FX691V V-Twin 726 cc engine. I was wondering if it is safe to use the same filter, I have been using for 5 years on my Kohler Command 22 hp vertical engine. The filter is a Stens larger capacity 120-626 oil filter. OD: 3 " Made By: An OEM supplier Height: 4 13/16 " Thread: 3/4 "-16 Micron: 28 8-11 PSI pressure relief valve Anti-drain valve Like I stated, been using this filter for 5 years and nearly 500 hours on my Kohler Command 22 hp engine with no issue whatsoever. I have a half dozen of these filters and plan on using one on my Exmark with the Kawasaki FX691V engine if it safe to do so. That is after the brake in period is completed and it's time for new oil and filter. I already have a case of Kawasaki muti blend 10w40 to replace the brake in oil. Just wondering your thoughts on the larger capacity filter? I know the OEM filter has a tad lower PSI pressure relief valve setting. That is my only concern with the larger Stens filter. Thanks for your expertise, Ken. Russell in southeastern MI.

I’ve used the larger one with no noticeable difference in oil(visually) over using the smaller filter. I’d have to see a before and after particulate test for both filters to make an honest call. A larger filter would have more surface area so it should trap more dirt, theoretically.

Use small engine oil and not automotive oil in the correct viscosity. Automotive oil is blended for fuel economy and for the emission control system in the cars, and small engine oil is blended for air cooled engines and has higher levels of Zinc and other anti wear additives.

@@KensSmallEngineRepairsmall engines don't give a rat ass about what oil to use. My Gen manual calls for api se grade or higher.
